Rob Reiner and wife murdered in their Brentwood home.

It is reported that their son, Nick, may be the perp. Stabbing.
https://ktla.com/news/local-news/man-woman-found-dead-inside-director-rob-reiners-brentwood-home-tmz-reporting/

From an A.I. websearch: Nick = Associate Director of Media and Storytelling at the ACLU of Southern California.

...Associate Director of Media and Storytelling at the ACLU of Southern California???????? WTF????? Guilty or not, that just sounds like a pile of silliness. Jayzuz.

  • Wow! One must be quite angry (or deranged) to kill a parent with a knife, no less.
  • Trump just made the most offensive classless remarks regarding Rob Reiner’s death. Much like his classless remarks about Dick Cheney the day of his funeral. While not a MAGA, I do lean right. Trump is doing everything possible to sink the 2026 mid terms, To say he is deranged is an understatement.

I would like to hear Donald J. Trump's response to the following inquiry.
"Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"

Coincidently, I rewatched "Season 1, Episode 1" of All in the Family (1971) over the weekend.
I liked watching Rob Reiner's character (Mike Stivic, a.k.a "Meathead") argue with Archie Bunker.
Complex and controversial social issues were often discussed on this popular comedy show series.
This was certainly groundbreaking at the time!

  • Trump condemned for ‘disgusting’ and ‘depraved’ statement after deaths of Rob Reiner and wife Michele

Following are excerpts from a current report in The Guardian:

US president fiercely criticized for claiming Hollywood director was killed due to his having ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome
In an astonishing post on Truth Social this morning, Donald Trump suggested that Hollywood director Rob Reiner, 78, who was found dead at his home alongside his wife Michele, 68, in what is being investigated as an “apparent homicide”, was killed because he angered people with his “Trump Derangement Syndrome”.

Reiner had spoken out about Trump many times over the years. He said in a 2017 interview with Variety that he thought Trump was “mentally unfit” to be president and called him the “single most unqualified human being to ever assume the presidency of the United States”.

He also told the Guardian last year that Trump’s re-election could lead to the US turning into an autocracy. “We see autocracy making its move around the world,” he said. “And so if we [the US] crumble, there’s a danger that democracy crumbles around the world.”

The president’s Truth Social post has been met with fierce criticism online, with many commentators calling it “disgusting” and “depraved”. Others have also contrasted Trump’s words with his administration’s calls for compassion after the killing of Charlie Kirk (and its crackdown on anyone it deemed to be “celebrating” or “making light” of it). At the time, Trump called Kirk’s killing a “the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree”.

This clip has been making the rounds, in which Reiner poignantly explained that he had felt “absolute horror” at Kirk’s assassination in September. “That should’ve never happened to anybody,” Reiner told Piers Morgan. “I don’t care what your political beliefs are – that’s not acceptable, that’s not a solution.” He added that he found Kirk’s widow’s forgiveness of her husband’s killer “beautiful” and “admirable”. It would be one of Reiner’s final television interviews.

A quote from Kirk himself in 2016 has also resurfaced today: “You can tell a lot about a person by the way they react when someone dies.”

Comment:   A window into the mind of our "president". The man is evilly deranged.

    May Rob Reiner RIP.
He was spot-on regarding Donald J. Trump.
I'm glad that Trump is facing fierce criticism for his unacceptable remarks.
I would like to see much more accountability for this wannabe king!

Oh, the irony at trump's words. After all the whining about Kimmel's remarks after the homophobic, anti-semitic, racist Kirk was killed, and maga jumped to all sorts of unwarranted conclusions.

trump is a semi-person, who condones violence, suggests violence, but hasn't the stones to own up to it directly. So, he shit-posts and hides behind vagaries.

Also ironically, trump is dying of "dementia syndrome" right now, and not the made-up kind.
  • Trump again critiques Rob Reiner as politicians condemn his ‘depraved’ statement on director’s death

Following are excerpts from a current report in The Guardian:

Trump doubles down on Rob Reiner statement, mocking dead director again
Asked by a reporter if he stands by his statement on Rob Reiner’s death after a number of Republicans have denounced it, Trump doesn’t offer any sympathy, doubles down on his dislike for Reiner AND refers to himself in the third person.

Well, I wasn’t a fan of his at all, he was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.

He knew it was false, in fact it was the exact opposite, but he said that I was a friend of Russia, controlled by Russia, the Russia hoax, he was one of the people behind it.

I think he hurt himself career-wise, he became like a deranged person, Trump derangement syndrome.

So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all, in any way, shape or form. I thought he was very bad for our country.

    Beyond Comment.

  • Trump’s post on Rob Reiner sparks outrage from lawmakers and celebrities

Following are edited excerpts from a current report in The Guardian:

President’s statement blaming acclaimed director’s death on his dislike of him described as ‘disgusting’ and ‘vile’
Celebrities and lawmakers from both of the US’s major political parties are condemning Donald Trump after the president blamed the death of Rob Reiner on what he described as the acclaimed Hollywood director’s dislike of him.

After the killings of Reiner, 78, and his 68-year-old wife, Michele, Trump took to social media to call the director “tortured and struggling”. Trump also claimed Reiner died “due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME”.

Trump then pivoted to praising his own accomplishments, asserting that Reiner’s alleged “raging obsession” and “obvious paranoia” toward him stood in contrast to his administration. Trump also maintained that he had “surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness … with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before”.

Celebrities and lawmakers, meanwhile, were swift to lambast Trump over what they described as “petty” and “disgusting” comments. “What a disgusting and vile statement,” actor Patrick Schwarzenegger wrote on X.

Similarly, Whoopi Goldberg, who described Reiner as her friend and “quite an amazing man,” condemned Trump. Goldberg said: “I don’t understand the man in the White House. He spoke at length about Charlie Kirk and about caring, and then this is what he puts out. Have you no shame? No shame at all? Can you get any lower? I don’t think so.”

Meanwhile, California’s Democratic governor Gavin Newsom wrote on X: “This is a sick man.” Echoing Newsom, US House member Maxwell Alejandro Frost, a Florida Democrat, said: “What a despicable piece of garbage.”

US senator Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat, similarly said of Trump: “He’s just lost it. Now saying Rob and Michele Reiner caused their own murder because they didn’t support him. So sick.” US House member Zoe Lofgren, another California Democrat, called Trump’s comments “a new low for this petty, hateful man”. Lofgren added: “His party needs to condemn this.”

Similarly, US House member Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, wrote: “This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies.” Greene also seemingly alluded to Nick Reiner’s past experiences with addiction and homelessness, writing, “Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. It’s incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy especially when it ends in murder.”

Greene’s fellow Republican US House member Thomas Massie struck a similar chord. The Kentucky representative said: “Regardless of how you felt about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered.” Massie also said he challenged anyone in his party – including vice-president JD Vance and White House staff – to defend Trump’s commentary.

Reiner had long been a vocal critic of Trump. In a 2017 interview with Variety, he said Trump was “mentally unfit” to be president.

Despite his criticisms of Trump Reiner expressed “absolute horror” and unequivocally condemned political violence after Kirk was shot. “It’s beyond belief what happened to him,” Reiner said at the time. “That should never happen to anybody. I don’t care what your political beliefs are. That’s not acceptable. That’s not a solution to solving problems.”

Comment:   "In a 2017 interview with Variety, (Reiner) said Trump was “mentally unfit” to be president. And Reiner's own death certainly proved that to be true.

  • He can write love letters to Jeffrey Epstein, but you sure don't want him writing anybody's eulogy.

Its not even a shock anymore. We ALL know what he is.
  • Well most of us here do. Not sure about FD1000's half of America though.
  • Is he dead yet?
  • If I were the praying type... I would.

That part of America embraces this raw version of Trump. Vindictive and irrational. Fortunately, that "base" is more like 40% instead of 50%.
  • A sad and terrible event for any family.
Other people’s tragedy is sacred ground and one needs to try very hard, to walk gently there.
We had the opportunity to watch Mr. Reiner's various interviews over the past few years via CNN and MSNBC/MSNOW. He was a full thinker and had a full grasp of the negative events of the group at the White House. Yet, he was always gracious in this discussions. Trump's current, outrageous comments, about Mr. Reiner; reveals the full sickness at the Oval Office. Much of this illness was apparent in 2017 revealing traits of psychopath and sociopath.
The loss of Mr. Reiner will have an impact beyond the suffering of his family and close friends. He was fighting to save our democracy.
The conservative/right wing backlash towards Trump's comment is of value, right now; but will it be meaningful to change a pathway going forward?
The many heads of the 'snake' are in place as individuals and the directives of Project 2025. I do not expect them to change their path and mission; as they are full of rage from their sickness.
Each of us will decide for ourselves, our convictions going forward; as to our continuing participation or newly found conviction to support functions and/or actions to help save this country from destruction.

    Respectfully,
    Catch
  • Well said, @catch22.
  • Thanks, Catch.
  • Has anyone heard what father & son were fighting about the night before the stabbing? Also it was mentioned the son was acting goofy that night.
  • It is known that the son had been in rehab for drug addiction many years ago.....
  • And many times, also.
