"Memo From Turner." Stones. Edgy, that's no surprise. On the one hand, "it's got a good beat, Dick, and you can dance to it." On the other, the lyrics sound dark, and frankly, some of it is a bit beyond me. I almost think this song was posted on account of some current parallels? Would you take a moment to explain, I hope? Thanks.

I almost missed that one. Upbeat music with very dark lyrics. Very good. On that basis, I am reminded of Bad Moon Rising, another song that has a jaunty sound, with very dark lyrics (Apocalyptic).
Alternate take on Memo From Turner, featuring the band, Traffic.

From a live performance in Chicago. A beautiful, mostly unknown song with masterful lyrics and an incredible backing band. So nostalgic. So thought provoking.
@Crash Lucky me. Still okay hair, and not cut for 6 years in December. It's been long, for a long time. The beard is always neatly trimmed. So, your C,S,N & Y song post I do know. From Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young and Crazy Horse and their personnel mixes over the years........well, wonderful, eh? The David Crosby/Graham Nash presentation (BBC, London, 1970) linked HERE really allows for the simple expression from a fairly simple song, with loving guitars and voices from another place.
I go to this a few times each month, slightly reclined in the chair, the big flat screen directly ahead and the surround sound on '12 +' or nice headphones.

Most people know Mellencamp from his radio hits. His best work never got much radio play.

The song was included in a Daily Mix made by Spotify.
I really liked the music and thought I'd share this lesser-known work.
I didn't pay too much attention to the lyrics.
Now that you mention it, the lyrics are rather dark!

Andrea Bocelli and his gorgeous wife in Las Vegas, with a sneaky visit from Edith Piaf:
La Vie En Rose.
The band members are some real bad seeds!
Excellent string work

I enjoyed the CSN&Y at Farm Aid clip.
Anyone here familiar with Dave Alvin?
