Season opened this week. Last night it got into full swing. Wagered a few cents on Memphis Grizzlies vs Pelicans and won. Watched second half of Knicks vs Cavaliers. Did not wager. But I’m a Knicks fan holding a few shares of MSGS. Knicks came back from a 17 point deficit to win handily.

I subscribed to NBA League Pass Premium. Price $159.99 for season which I feel is a bargain. With the premium option there are no commercials. The half time performances are sometimes fantastic (gymnastics, bands, trained dogs, etc.) I think the one with commercials goes for around $100 for the season. One note - Home games are blacked out. Doesn’t bother me. But would some. However, I believe there are other plans if one wants to view a home team.

Unfortunately, A NBA player and a coach were arrested today as part of an investigation into gambling - potentially game related. Honestly, DraftKings and others make this inevitable. No. A player or coach isn’t likely to intentionally throw a game. But when you can bet on things like individual points scored, number of rebounds, minutes played in a game it wouldn’t be difficult to affect the outcome. Also, if you are privy to information re the seriousness of a player injury or the likelihood he’ll be pulled from the lineup it gives you an edge in betting. And an edge is all you need. I do suspect stocks like MSGS might take a hit because the gambling probe tarnishes everyone’s image.

    Can’t recall seeing any Spurs games recently. So probably haven’t seen Wamby. There was another 20 year old who was excellent in a game I watched recently. Think it was one of the two NBA games watched last night. But can’t recall. For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson appears to be half the franchise. Excellent player. And for the Grizzlies I love watching Ja Morant who does circus acts on the court and makes unbelievable shots. But, he has a history of serious trouble with the law and underwent a long suspension year or two back. Hope he has things turned around. Hellova player.

    Watched Wamby play for the Spurs a couple nights ago. Bet a few cents on his team (favored) and won a bit. The guy is 7’5” tall. It’s a wonder he can even walk at that height. Main value seems to be in rebounding close to the basket.

    Not recommending anyone gamble, but I found that the first time I laid down 50-cents or a buck on an NBA game the complexion changed completely. You go from seeing a boring litany of guys running up and down the court to a stark admiration of individual player’s strength in passing, speed in getting down court, ability to make incredible layups, etc. My favorite sport by far.
