It's that time of the year! Appears to me any team that made the playoff has a chance to take it all. DUH!! Here's a link to see where your favorite team is positioned with a few comments. Enjoy. https://www.mlb.com/news/power-rankings-entering-2025-postseason Someone forgot to post the link!
I caught a bit of the Tigers vs Guardians game today while getting my car serviced. Not really a big Tigers fan, but nice to see them defeat Cleveland 2-1. Tigers really stunk up the joint the last couple weeks of the season blowing an 8-10 game lead. Like Larry, baseball was my daily escape from reality all summer. I do miss the regular season.
Boston nips Yankees 3-1. Boston pitcher threw 117 (?) times. Not many runs scored during the first go around. We''ll see what the second rotation can do to silents the bats.
Last evening I put 50 cents on the Yankees in the 3rd inning when they were down a run. It would have paid $1.54 had they won.
Any suggestions who I should bet on in game 2 today? Red Sox or Yankees?
FWIW - 50 cents wagered on NY tonight only pays out 75 cents., The same sum wagered on Boston pays $1.25. So you need to incorporate this into your thinking. I also own a few shares of MSGS and CZR which stand to benefit from sports betting.
Lots of rivalry juices flowing. Top 8th, still tied. Bos at NY. ......Yanks up by one run with 2 out, then load the bases and can score no more. Like yesterday in the 9th. Poopies. Yanks lead 4-3, with 3 outs to go, if they can keep the Sox from scoring. ...And... Yanks win, 4-3. But they did not deserve it.
@hank After 8 games : 1 push, 2 overs, 5 under 1/st & 2/nd starting pitchers Question is in the next three games will the #3 starter allow more runs? Plus the bull pens have been busy. Just a guess, put 2 marbles on over for all 3 games & hope that 2 out of three come true. Good luck on what ever you do. Games today 1-7o/u, 2- 7.5 o/u
Glad to see the Cubs doing it. I'm happy that you're happy re: the Tigers, even without Billy Chapel, eh? I'm glad the Dodgers advanced. And the Bronx Bombers shut-out the Sox. They must retreat to Fenway PAHK now, until April.
Game not quite over yet. It's never over till it's over. But let's hope the Jays use up a lotta spare runs scored in this Game 1. Don't wanna see a blowout like this again vs. Yanks. Bottom of 8th in Toronto, Jays up 7-1. .....Now 8-1, no outs.
Dodgers now. Late coffee, then something stronger. Tied 0-0 in 2nd. W.C. Fields: "All things considered, I think I'd rather be in Philadelphia." Citizens Bank Park MUST be better than old Veterans Stadium. Dreadful.
Go, Dodger BLUE! Next year, back in Brooklyn, hopefully! And just for your edification, Ptolemy II, the Macedonian Greek ruler of Egypt, renamed what is now Amman, Philadelphia. Circa 255 bce. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_(Amman)
Dodgers win, 5-3. A 3-run HR turned the tide. I am curious about something else: i had been told that the NL had adopted the DH. (SHOULD be unconstitutional.) Ohtani started as Pitcher. Later I saw him designated as "P-DH." ... Um... WTF? But earlier in the game, I saw no such "DH" at all, anywhere. What's up with that, please?
@Crash If I'm reading you correctly, how can you be a DH & still play on the field? It's called a twofer one. Ha Ha Appears a player can be a DH & still play the field. he batted 4 times. Both DH's had forgettable performances! O'fers!!

Ah, that's it. Imagine a PITCHER as the DH. Unheard of. But it's true.
Sunday, 05 Oct, '25: Looks like Yanks are gonna suck ass again today. Outclassed, I am thinking. Still time for a reversal. Bottom 3rd now.
9-0, Jays ahead in the 4th. A complete murtilization. Stinky poopy lousy awful and bad. ...13-7 now, but Yanks are running outa outs. They got 6, before this game is over. Bottom 7th now.
Just watched glimpses. Nice slide into home plate (“safe” call challenged unsuccessfully) ) and a nice diving play at 3rd by a Dodger 3rd baseman. Dodgers had opened up a pretty good lead when I left the broadcast.
How about Brewer - Cub game !! Two three run HOMERS in the first inning. Bull pen game for the Brewers. My how the game changes! Almost forgot the other 3 run homer the Brewer bats hit!
I watched that entire game b/w Dodgers/Phils on Monday, 06 Oct. a true cliffhanger in the 9th. Freeman saved the game with that save on the throw to him at 1st base from the 2nd baseman. He threw the ball into the dirt. Surely was nervous!
Yanks are not getting it done by any measure. Pity.
