Has anyone checked on Cathie Wood yet today?

TSLA down roughly 16% on the very public spat between FOTUS and Musk, a bromance of mutual adoration and convenience that I didn't think would last this long, actually.

Ms. Wood apparently trimmed her TSLA holding last week. TSLA was the largest ARKK holding.

Thought the Musk dust-up with Dump was all just theatre, but maybe their relationship has in fact devolved. Two supposed "Alphas" - my other reference for both starts with an "A" as well.

How did Musk ever get elected in the first pla...oh, wait.

    Pass the popcorn please.

    Why would you follow Wood?
Her fund AKRR lost money in 5 years and is way down from 2021. See chart.

  • because cathie wood has made 1000X more money filching her investors rather than putting her own capital into her own investment vehicles. sound familiar? rich people always have their fans.

    +1
There's a sucker born every minute.

    Below is a generic comment.

The usual, why every thread must have politics?

  • Politics and investing are intimately linked. Pump and dump is such a common tactic among managers such as Cathie Wood.
  • "my other reference for both starts with an "A" as well." lol
  • Yes... well done. I liked that too.

Can you give the board another, or any other, reason why Tesla was down 16% today other than the blatantly obvious? I won't be waiting while you come up some irrelevant data point.

No, the blatantly obvious will do just fine. Remember, most investors are irrational creatures...

Please don’t tempt me to buy some TSLA. Recently swore-off owning individual stocks or would wade in. Not sure why TSLA tumbled. A lot of folks who stayed away due to Musk’s participation in politics may gradually come back. Plus, Musk is devoting more time to the company. This divergence with the administration should be good for TSLA. The maga crowd isn’t much into electrics.

My first thought today was that this was a “staged” battle to help TSLA recapture some lost customers. But it now appears too personal / ugly to be just that. If Musk’s ”Epstein Files” charge has legs, it might provide some cover for members of Congress who would like to stand up to power but currently are afraid to. (But that matter belongs in OT).

This spat may be good for (“One-way”) Boeing. I’d probably buy that too if I weren’t currently on the wagon. Musk has threatened to decommission Space-X’s Dragon capsule that ferries astronauts to and from the ISS.
  • In another word, pay up! His influence on the administration is not going well. Recently, his preferred candidate to head up NASA got rejected by the administration. His candidate for IRS was forced to resign in 3 days.

In the meantime, Tesla is having a reverse of fortune competing against the Chinese EVs. All I can say is wow!
  • This could really get interesting. Musk wants/needs more communications frequencies from Trump's FCC for his fleet of communications satellites; permission for more rocket flights from Trump's FAA, continuation of Tesla subsidies from Trump's budget.

Fortunately for Musk Trump is very levelheaded and morally responsible and certainly wouldn't dream of using government operations to screw Musk.

    (Hee hee hee...)
  • TV series maybe , maybe not!?

    * which is my anti-Musk, anti-SpaceX spec trade that's gone gangbusters for me over the years
