U.S. Treasury work stations hacked by China, December 8 + 9 telecoms
NOTE: Three other related articles are just below the end of the article text, noting that 9 telecom companies were also hacked. Ironically, the third-party software service provider involving the hack, is named BeyondTrust
Hi @Old_Joe. That was a 'word test' to help determine cognitive skills. And you, kind SIR , are at the top of the excellence scale. Have a glass of wine with my blessings. Be sure your dear spouse knows that "I said so".
Is that reason why the Treasuries across the curve increased in value bigly today? Now it makes sense why US equities have been on a tear too.
There is so much hand wringing about TikTok ban. There is no end to greed. Look at all the other countries that banned it. Did they fall off the face of the earth. We are our own worst enemy. Enjoy the stupid TikTok App while China hacks away.
Without going into details (I'm tired!) digital supply chain attacks like this are increasing in popularity and severity..... and it's not an 'easy' thing to address. (Well, it IS easy, but nobody wants to do it.)

+1
But watch that wine OJ. I recently had to downsize from 8 ounce servings to only 5 .
@hank- The wine industry will be happy to learn that I've compensated for you by increasing my 5oz glass to 8oz. Yeah, maybe shorten my life by a week or so. At 85, who cares?
Related to UST volatilities, this is a wee bit concerning (not cyber-related) ... the traditional 'money center' banks are not as active in the UST markets as private trading houses, which are more concerned w/short-term than long-term and/or stability.
rforno, Apologies for not acknowledging you sooner. When I read articles I skip over names and titles. If I did not, I would have asked you if it was you.
(Being technology illiterate) I also do not click on links I do not recognize and hence, did not check the article link you posted.

Haha, no worries. And if I use a link shortener I usually try to say where it's from, so people can have a higher degree of trust in it should they want to click it.
Richard Forno, assistant director of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Cybersecurity Institute, said the Chinese efforts were being directed at a variety of targets.
"It's more generic information gathering, let's see what we can get into, and see what we can find," he said.
UMBC. Once every blue moon while at school on Maiden Choice Lane, some of us walked to the Ratskellar at UMBC. See how the other half lives, LOL. I have a cousin who took her undergrad degree there. St. Mary's on MC Lane is gone now. But the retirement Apt. complex which moved in (Carrollton or Charles Town? I forget) has kept up the chapel. I toured it once. A lot more livable than when I inhabited the place.
Friday, the S Ct will hear oral arguments in the TikTok case. The Court’s ruling in this will tell us how independent it is from DJT. I do not get why the Ct has even taken this case.
