I think developed Europe economies are going to do worse in the next four years as they spend more money for their own defense and that of Ukraine. Add to that Tariffs, US multinationals which also get a lot of their revenues and profits from Europe along with European multinationals may lose out to US SMIDs who may get exemptions from Tariffs and other restrictions imposed on large multinationals.
I had a lot of hot stove moments with small caps but this time their move up could be real.
@BaluBalu: now more than ever, AIRR makes sense. Domestic industrial SC 90% and regional banks 10%. Last week saw a 12+% gain for the fund while IWM, RJW, and AVUV rose 8+%, respectively.
@BaluBalu- thanks to the imprecision of the English language, I can't tell if your use of the word "read" is intended to be "read" as in "reed", or as in "red" (past tense).
Since you are the initial poster and originator of the thread you will be notified every time that anyone else posts a response here. The other condition that will cause a notification, in any thread, whether you initiated it or not, is another poster using the term "@BaluBalu" in their posting.
Thank Joe. I am not receiving notifications unless someone uses ‘@BaluBalu’ in posts. But messages I have not red are marked as read even when I have not read them.
P.S.: the imprecision (inefficient?) of English language is occasionally making me realize my age. E.g., The know and the now are confusing to me now when they were not when I was younger and I am 20 yrs to Joe Biden.
Tariffs do not necessarily increase inflation in a true sense (it is a onetime increase) but the permanent elevated costs can make consumers miserable if tariffs are not borne by sellers / suppliers (and what is their incentive?). There likely is going to be a phase-in. Trump 1.0 had Tariffs and we were begging for inflation then.
This post is a true off Topic but relevant in the current political environment.
My second grader niece goes to a public school in the Bay Area. Both her parents hold masters degree in engineering. The kid was sick with cold and cough and night sweats and her parents decided to keep her at home until she recovered (one week). They informed the school at the beginning. But the school called for a PT conference because the kid was out of school for more than 3 days and did not have a fever during daytime and evidently, the school threatened consequences if parents repeated the behavior. Parents had to take time off from work to attend to the Govt nonsense. If CA keeps up with this type of nonsense, more businesses and productive people will move out CA. No one wants to deal with a paternalistic ruling class.
No question that Government can sometimes be unnecessarily intrusive. Very irritating. I'd bet that money was at the root of this particular situation- the schools are paid a certain amount daily for each student that actually attends, and many of the schools are underfunded as it is, so they tend to be very attentive to absence.
Hi @Observant1 Thank you. I'll chew on this video with Sunday morning coffee and a few pieces of toast to dunk into the hot coffee. An old habit from my Mom and my childhood years.
