So if you buy a used car with the heater & heated seat turned on, you have to buy a subscription to turn them off?
From an investment perspective, just as you and I might enjoy having a steady income stream so do auto makers. So they’re willing to pay a bit more in production costs with an expectation they’ll be rewarded down the road (no pun intended). Agree it’s getting nuts.
It seems that Hewlett-Packard Packard printers may be purchased with an Instant Ink plan, in essence a subscription obligating the printer owner to purchase ink on a schedule from the manufacturer. It’s sold as a promise to make your life easier. However, should you find that you don’t need as much ink as you contracted to buy, and you fail to purchase the ink regularly, H-P can remotely shut down your printer. To be truthful, running out to Staples in the evening might be less hassle than trying to get H-P to release your device from debtors’ prison.
