M* has been a reliable source for comparative total return charts for many years. Most mutual funds, ETFs, CEFs, and stocks could be compared over varying time periods on a total return basis if a mutual fund was charted initially. And, a link to the search could be saved for ongoing reference. Alas, it appears that source is vanishing. Are there alternatives? Links to alternative sources using an example search will be appreciated......

These are total return graphs with flexible end points. Unfortunately they don't extend beyond ten years.
M* still provides fund comparisons by clicking on the performance tab, then on the "show interactive chart" button at the upper left of the graph. I've found that you usually have to spell out the name of the fund you want to compare the initial fund to - even if it recognizes the ticker, no data is displayed for the added fund. The data is flaky - sometimes it shows two entries for the same fund (even with the same ticker). If you pick the wrong one, no data is shown, but if you pick the right one, you get the desired comparison.
As @davfor noted, the "link to" feature at M* is gone. So while I can describe what to do, and M* does still seem to provide the greatest range in dates, greatest flexibility in end points, ETFs etc., it has become the hardest to use and impossible to link to.

>>>This M* area still functions as the "old version".
I've set this link to FBALX. One is still able to place a new ticker to review and the reloaded page remains at the performance page tab.
The risk/rating still works; which I review for some holdings to review the upside/downside capture info.
Also, testing the compare with an etf worked fine.

>>>This below link for funds category return page still functions as well, although I'm finding clicking on other tabs to move to another area now takes me to the "new" M*.
I view this page for a broad overview of sectors.

Fun, fun, eh???

Thanks for the links. I have some old saved links similar to the ones you posted above. But I suspect those links may die fairly soon as they continue to phase out their old format. So, I am trying to be proactive rather than having to think about it at the funeral....
we shall see what handy functionality remains in a few weeks
Parts of the performance link page had begun to fail several months ago. Numerous etf's and some stock tickers could not be identified by M*.
Hoping at least this page function continues to function.
today I got a notice at the very top saying changes in progress or some such
so I am thinking we will know the state of play settled in a few weeks
