FYI: The king in a Super Bowl commercial for Bud Light may have “just wanted to return some corn syrup to its rightful owners” in the Coors Light and Miller Lite castles, but MillerCoors, which produces both beers, was not amused.

MillerCoors sued Anheuser-Busch on Thursday over the ad, claiming that it purposely misled consumers into believing there is corn syrup in Coors Light and Miller Lite, when there is not.

    MFO members: Whether or not they contain corn syrup all the beers mentioned by @Ted here are very pedestrian. Serve only to visitors - if you don’t want to pay a premium price.

    Four decent premiums you might want to try if you haven’t yet:

    1. Guinness Blonde (a traditional lighter brew)

    2. Samual Adams Boston Lager (always a fine fallback with a distinct flavor)

    3. Strohs’ Bohemian Pilsner (still fire-brewed, but much better than what Strohs was peddling back in the 60s/70s)

    4. Founders Porter (brewed in Grand Rapids Michigan. A delicious dark brew / 6.5% ABV)

    @MFO Members: I guess the poster wasn't aware that since FundAlarm days and continuing on MFO Fosters is the official beer. Here's why

    Last can of Fosters I bought (several years ago) said this on the side of the can:

    “Brewed and packaged under the supervision of Foster’s Australia Ltd., Melbourne, Australia by Oil Can Breweries, Albany, Ga. and Fort Worth, Texas.”

    So I dumped the whole thing in the crankcase of the Ol’ pickup truck - and haven’t bought it again.

    One of my latest finds. I dunno where these reviewers come up with such associations with the flavor: grass, biscuits. CHEEZ. ...Anyhow, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Radeberger Pilsner. (German.) Light and flavorful, not watered-down.

    I like a good stout and Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout is my fave. For those who like Porters, like myself, Great Lakes Brewery in Cleveland makes a very good one called Edmund Fitzgerald Porter, but I've had many good ones. Agree on tha Sam Adams Lager @Hank. Always a good fall back and you'll find it at most bars and restaurants.

    That funny taste in beer is beer. I'll stick with agave juice which has no foam, fizz or god forbid water in it. However don't tell anyone but I do enjoy a Guinness.

    Barley and hops. Gotta be good and nutritious, eh? And did ya know that MOLSON of all sorts for consumption in the USA does NOT come from Canada any longer? Only the label is there to make you feel good, while you're being lied to by Molson-Coors. ... And a while back, I noticed Jamaican Red Stripe for consumption in The States is no longer brewed in Jamaica. Then later, I saw that the label told me it WAS from Jamaica. Must have been a very old case. And you're also very slowly, very gradually being swindled by buying Red Stripe in 11 ounce bottles, when the standard is 12 oz. I used to LOVE the Red Stripe commercials. Too politically incorrect for the snowflakes these days.

    Hi Guys,

    Just as when planning an investing strategy, there is no single way to be a winner with respect to beers. There are countless winning ways that is dependent on circumstance and taste. Here is a list of winning beers according to a source that did an extensive survey:

    Thanks for the list @MJG. I may take it shopping with me and try a couple of them. A little leary about the list though since I see a few that I wouldn't call tier one beers. Blue Moon, New Castle? Come-on-man.
