He was a good and honest man, "on the other side of the aisle". We are sadly lacking of others of his character and bravery, on any side of any aisle. May he rest in well-deserved peace.
This. I didn't always agree w/everything he voted for or did, but I definitely respected the man, his service to our Nation, ability to periodically defy his own party line, and belief in bipartisanship, civility[1], and in something greater than himself. Folks like that are getting fewer and fewer these days.
[1] When he corrected that woman who thought Obama was an Arab during his presidential run, he didn't attack he or her views personally. He was polite, called her 'ma'am' and stood up for the facts about his opponent. I doubt that would happen these days.

Said John Weaver, a former aide and a longtime friend “I don’t think it bothers John one bit. If we heard something today or tomorrow from Trump, we know it’d mean less than a degree from Trump University.”
@LewisBraham, I would've thought you could have resisted (here at least). I believe this thread was to salute Mr McCain. He was a great American and I had great respect for him.
@BrianW Resisted what? I agree regarding McCain's war heroism and respect him as well. It's the guy you voted for who lacks any sense of respect or decency regarding the late senator. If you're upset with the tenor of his crappy reaction, take it up with him.

"That moral compass is what distinguished McCain, more than his war record, his wicked wit, his tireless travel schedule and his familiarity with far corners of the globe."

Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live and gladly die,
And I laid me down with a will.
This be the verse you grave for me;
"Here he lies where he longed to be,
Home is the sailor, home from sea,
And the hunter home from the hill."
Robert Louis Stevenson
