  • HA has had success by expanding into new routes and offering low cost fares. How long can they do that may be the bigger question. I think they can only go so far since they have a limited network and fleet and cannot compete with the big boys. I haven't flown on them but from others who have, the service is okay but not anything to brag about. Sounds like another typical US domestic airline.

Alaska Airlines is one I like, both in flying with and investing.

Reply to @JohnChisum: Let's just hope that Alaska has improved their maintenance procedures and are no longer sparing the grease on the horizontal stabilizers. That one cost 88 lives, but who's counting if the profits are good?

Reply to @Old_Joe: That is old news. I would consider their maintenance above the LCC who runs their planes with quick turnarounds.

Most of my flying is long haul so I fly based on quality and not price. I want good service, good food and a comfortable seat. Most of the airlines are headed in the opposite direction unfortunately.

Quick edit; the post changed during my reply.

Reply to @Old_Joe: Yep - remember that one well. DC-9 T-Tail assembly. (Correction: MD-83). Yikes - You motivated me to read NTSB report OJ. Much different than I recalled. Unfortuntly, not a suitable link for MFO - and I'm reasonably sure you've seen it anyway. Take care.
