I am a huge fan of Vince Gilligan's work, and more importantly, his way of looking at the world and creating reality.
I had heard some very bipolar reviews of this and am halfway through episode 2 and loving this. I do see why people who came for BrBa or Saul would be put off. This is pure, unadulterated classic SciFi. I am astounded by how much it reminds me of early Michael Crichton. The Sphere, Andromeda Strain with a twist. And Arthur C Clark, especially the pacing of Rendezvous With Rama. Clearly a passion project for Gilligan. And a homage to Crichton, specifically.
Expect no big revelations, or Monsters of The Week, here. Just a wonderfully adept look under the hood of humanity. And a throwback to another era of storytelling.

For the last couple of years I've been mentioning to my wife how so many of the old SciFi themes (scientific, technological, financial, political, and social) are becoming true right before our very eyes. Anyone who has been a long-time SciFi reader will know exactly what I'm saying here.
Absolutely.
