  • Bronx cheer here.
  • At FD1000…. Just your opinion man. Another POV is that it’s just another shitty week in which the rule of law,, democracy, the constitution and governance by three branches all go down the drain. And the greatest upward transfer of wealth and the massive deficit are lurking next week. Just your opinion man. The dude abides.
  • ISTM that absolutely none of that is of the slightest interest or importance to FD. As long as he can count his money he's happy.
  • The U.S. doesn't spend anywhere near 5% of GDP on defense. 2025? 2.9%.
  • Orange wants the Euros to deal with Ukraine vs. Russia. Chickenshit.

Or as Walter said, "Fucking dipshit with a nine-toed woman", during the confrontation with the nihilists. One of my favorite lines from the movie, though often overlooked.

  • Good one Dr.
  • @Dr. Venture. Say what you want about Fd1000 but at least he’s got an ethos.
  • FD's "ethos" is simple: Nothing is as important as money.

FD: I stopped counting; I have plenty, but keep posting the same lie.
I worry a lot more about my fellow Americans that have suffered so much since the biggest inflation in 4 decades. It was created by the worst prez in decades.

It's about time the Europeans spent their money near their countries.

It was one of the best American operations where we hit the number one terror country in the world, Iran, who killed over 1000 Americans and injured more in decades.
    No soldier was hurt.
Wait, Crash said we don't spend enough.

    The following are all "legel"....
    1) Let millions illegal, including criminals, into the country
    2) Hire based on DEI instead of merits
    3) Riot and burn cities and universities and let these criminals out.
    4) Chasing Trump in every avenue available for years

OJ: "It seems to me that absolutely none of that is of the slightest interest or importance to FD. As long as he can count his money he's happy."

FD: "I stopped counting; I have plenty... I worry a lot more about my fellow Americans that have suffered so much."

The chief MAGAT is proposing to-

    • Load down the United States with $3.3 TRILLION of increased debt, so that he and his well-off "fellow Americans" like FD can take and keep even more of the total pie.

    • Remove millions of the poorest Americans from Medicaid so that he and his well-off "fellow Americans" like FD can take and keep even more of the total pie.

    • Remove any and all references to climate change, regardless of the provable effects that it is having and will increase having on the entire planet.

    • Remove any and all support for any technology that would help to moderate climate change.

Does anyone here really believe that FD1000 gives a damn about his "fellow Americans", especially those who don't "have plenty and have stopped counting"?

The Chief MAGAT and FD1000 know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

    Old_Joe,
It's amazing that every Dem I know including you, are so mad when it's not going your way.
Fortunately, that's how the system works.
I do believe in Dem prez such as Clinton and Kennedy, but the Dems now are so far off.
The answer to that is in the WH, get used to it.
The pendulum must move to the center, it has been happening pretty fast and it looks good.
Lastly, it seems that you think that only your truth counts, it's pretty sad.

We shouldn't lose sight of the ball. The whole MAGA movement was supposedly about giving the little guy what they 'deserved'. As it turns out, narcissistic billionaires, with a habit or not paying contractors and service people, are prone to taking from the poor and giving to the rich.

There is a reason that some are fixated on the numbers right now, which are beginning to turn, I might add. PCE is now up to 2.7%. And since the inauguration the S&P is only up 3% in 6 months. Compare that to 2023/2024 with its cumulative +50% gain. Words like "new market highs", failure to capture that reality.

Many of the ways that these policies are going to hit low-income people are detailed in the following transcript. Why certain folks want to cherry-pick the NOW, because the bad stuff is coming.

    https://newrepublic.com/article/197403/transcript-trump-screwing-voters-mind-boggling-new-scam

"It’s becoming clearer by the day how badly Trump’s big budget bill will hammer Trump voters. And Trump himself recently admitted that his mass deportations are hurting farmers, a major GOP constituency, and hurting the economy to boot."

"Tallying up how badly the budget bill is going to hit working people. The House version will cut food benefits by hundreds of billions of dollars and it would knock over 10 million people off health care rolls. That’s going to hit a huge chunk of the working poor across this country."

"There’s never been a budget bill that redistributes income more aggressively from the bottom to the top. This is Robin Hood in reverse on massive doses of steroids. They’re literally taking money from poor people and giving it to rich people. And anyone who knows anything about what it’s like to try to get by.… And [when] we talk about an affordability crisis—trust me—that’s a crisis for the bottom 20 percent, not for the top 0.1 percent."

".. if it’s imported, it comes from Canada. And in fact, the vast majority of all crude oil processed in the Midwest is from Canada. We are very large energy trading partners with Canada. We also export over $400 billion of our own exports to Canada. And I suspect they’re going to put on reciprocal tariffs, and that’s going to hurt American companies that send food up there, automobiles, machine tools. So this is going to hurt employment and it’s going to raise prices, particularly, I believe, in the Midwest."

"The cumulative effect of the tariffs and the budget bill is to make 80 percent of households less well-off. As someone who’s been observing politics and budgets and international trade for many decades, I’ve never seen anything like this where a budget bill combined with tariffs [and] deportation is taking a strong economy that this administration inherited and cutting it off at the knees. [It’s] lowering incomes for at least 80 percent of households, making life more expensive—exactly the opposite of what people thought they were voting—for tens of millions of people."
  • Speaking of money, I admit some awe of many of you MFOers for the selfless opposition to the continued Trump taxes. I think I can safely assume most to all of you have more tax burden than I do. If my taxes revert to the pre-trump tax brackets the tax increase I will face will be quite (more like very) large. I assumed a comparable adjustment that the Trump era taxes enjoyed between 2018 and 2024 when adjusting the old brackets, standard deduction and exemption. I tried to use the Tax Foundation's comparison calculator but it was way off (by $20K) my numbers. My numbers usually agree closely with my yearly tax return but both calculations showed a sizable increase, with my percent increase being larger than the Tax Foundation percent increase. At any rate, expecially for individual filers, the expiration is a sizable tax increase. So, my hat is off to you for putting other's health and future above your own taxes.
  • I guess if someone thinks Trump is the center (!) then these bald lies are not also ignorant wingnut Fox fantasies:

    The following are all "legel"....
    1) Let millions illegal, including criminals, into the country
    2) Hire based on DEI instead of merits
    3) Riot and burn cities and universities and let these criminals out.

@FD1000- You are quite correct that every Dem you know is so mad when it's not going our way.

HEAR THIS, FD1000: "Our way" is not predicated on taking yet more from those who have a lot less than we do. "Our way" is predicated upon caring for the planet and leaving it in decent shape for those who will follow us.

For sure it's now going your way. And your way, and the Magat's way, has not the slightest consideration for any American who, IN YOUR OWN WORDS, doesn't "have plenty and has stopped counting".

You are absolutely right, FD1000. It's your turn now, and you and those like you are going to make the most of it.

JUST SPARE US THE CRAP ABOUT CARING A DAMN FOR YOUR "FELLOW AMERICANS", FD. JUST TAKE YOUR BLOOD MONEY AND STUFF IT SOMEWHERE.

I believe you are correct on all counts.

  • @Anna- Speaking for myself, your observations are correct.

However, unlike FD1000, we are absolutely not at ease increasing our wealth at the expense of those who already have much less than we do.
  • +1 again, OJ

Oh, and here is a handy-dandy thing to memorize for these days:

How hard is this to understand? Socialism is NOT Communism:

Capitalism – anybody can be rich

Communism – nobody can be rich

Socialism – anybody can be rich but nobody should be poor.
