    Well, our national defense needs only the best and the brightest. If not family, then who?
  • Not necessarily related, but WTF was Vance's wife doing in Greenland?
  • Taking pictures and making maps for Trump's threatened takeover by force?
  • Spouses of officials do go along. The original trip was just going to be her. It went bust when there wasn't anyone who wanted to meet her, so it turned out. Grinning here. I guess it was something like another stoopid, questionable trip--- when Orange Donny, Jr. flew up? Sure, just a friendly hello. LOL.

    She was initially going to watch a dog-sled race with one of her sons, per the White House.... but the Greenland protesters were prepared to give her quite the chilly reception. Guess they sensed this visit to be a threat. So tough man JD Vance decided to escort her.....to the US military base located far, far away from any actual native Greenlanders.

    I'm sure she had a really wonderful time visiting a mess hall and a latrine, plus a lot of snow and a few hundred freezing Air Force troops.
  • Just like Jill Biden had to hold Biden when he could not find his home or the White House or navigate the hardest job in the world and hide it for years.

    @FD1000,

    Back to the pertinent topic mentioned in the OP...
    Trump administration members are being reckless when they fail to comply with traditional security protocols.
    Their regrettable behavior has national security implications.
    Why does Jennifer Hegseth need to attend sensitive meetings where national security is discussed?

    "Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who is facing scrutiny over his handling of details of a military strike, brought his wife, a former Fox News producer, to two meetings with foreign military counterparts where sensitive information was discussed, according to multiple people who were present or had knowledge of the discussions."

    "A secretary can invite anyone to meetings with visiting counterparts, but attendee lists are usually carefully limited to those who need to be there and attendees are typically expected to possess security clearances given the delicate nature of the discussions, according to defense officials and people familiar with the meeting. There is often security near the meeting space to keep away uninvited attendees."

    “When you have meetings with ministers or high-level NATO officials, those meetings almost always include sensitive security conversations,” said Chuck Hagel, a Republican former secretary of defense who served under President Barack Obama. “If you are going to discuss top secret, national security issues, you have to be very selective. What’s the relevancy of the person you are inviting?”

    "For a secretary’s wife to be present in such conversations, Hagel said: 'It sends a message to the department: Why is the secretary doing that? It puts staff on guard over what to say and to whom. It introduces an issue you don’t need to introduce.'”

    Yea, but he doesn't seem to want to securely lock the doors.
