Strategic Income - April Commentary

Mr. Snowball and my fellow named firms:

I would like to have a gentleman wager of a dinner between all parties for the fund is considered the best based on the next 12 months in which David Snowball judges as well as determines criteria. Winner pays. Losers show up with winner at Mr. Snowball's restaurant selection in Davenport environs, New York City, San Francisco or Santa Fe. We can make it an annual event.

"What could go wrong?"

  • Love the idea.
  • David's announcement comes at the same moment that the WWE announced that they were merging with the UFC. Cage Match Coincidence? I think not.

I can hear Sam Irwin now:

"The following contest, scheduled for one dinner, is for the MFO Best Strategic Income Fund."

"Introducing the challenger, with an ER of point-XX and a Great Owl Rating of X .... weighing in at XXX Assets Under Management, the Osterweis Strategic Incooooooomeeeee Fund!"

  • giggle.
  • I think OSTIX looks pretty good here and I am buying. I am clearing out REMIX, at a minor loss. That alternative fund cushioned my portfolio less than cash would have over the past 6-12 months.
  • OSTIX is really a conservatively run HY fund. M* in fact classifies it as such. Strategic in its name may give people impression that it is multi, but Carl Kaufman is a HY specialist and stays mostly in the HY area.

Another conservatively run HY is VWEHX.
