Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.

  • May I humbly suggest modifying just the caption a bit? Trump may not be dignified, but we are here.
  • I've mentioned this sort of thing before, to no avail. Unfortunate.

    @Old_Joe

    I will. Just to make you happy.
  • @Crash- Not really a question of me "being happy". It's simply that by lowering ourselves to the same level as Trump and his band of low-class bastards we diminish ourselves too.

    I'm quite capable of using that sort of language myself. I did my four years in the service, and anyone who's done that ain't hardly a linguistic virgin. But when I'm in decent company I try to observe the community standards. Most of the time, anyway.

    I’ve always considered Mutual Fund Observer a place where intelligent minds shared thoughts and ideas in a civil manner - a place that’s a cut above the name calling, baiting of opposition and trash-talk that permeates so much other online space. As a member here, the overall tenor of the board and the decorum with which it operates represent who I am as an individual.

    To the point it becomes distasteful in tone or language, to the extent the nature of the very language posted is intended to exclude, anger or provoke to reciprocal hostility any who might harbor an opposing point of view - one which might enlighten all of us - this section of the board fails that test and ceases to represent who I am. For me, the answer, reluctantly, is to no longer read or participate in the off-topic section.
