Anyone other than myself having problems connecting to MFO ?
Not about this thread but as a new member here, I noticed that this Discussion forum does not offer an ignore or block button to be able to skip over posters who post only to air their personal / political views, sometimes completely ignoring the facts. Did this forum consider such a feature. If so, is it in the works?
@BaluBalu- your suggestion has been discussed in detail many times over the years, and the management decided to create an "Off Topic" section for all topics other than financial matters. This arrangement has almost always been honored by the MFO members.
Since the Off-Topic section must be specifically selected to view it, it remains inoffensive to the majority of posters who are uninterested in non-financial commentary.

I'd be a very much poorer investor or perhaps not an investor, if I was not or don't remain curious.........about what is in the investment box of chocolates.
One may always view and skip here; but than the risk of missing a pleasant surprise of knowledge may never be known.
However curious one might be, the incremental benefit of watching porn repeatedly is only a matter of one’s perspective - it is not everybody’s cup of tea.
@BaluBalu : I just read your comment on porn & can't figure out what you're trying to say. I don't believe I've seen any porn on mfo ! Are you referring to off topic as porn ?
The biggest problem with the political posts occurs as an election nears and the board becomes increasingly saturated with endorsements favoring some candidates, condemnations of others and as Twain would say, “lies and damned lies.“ For those of us who, in part anyways, come here for the site’s “non-facebook” attributes, those politically tinged exchanges disturb and, more importantly, detract from the primary mission of MFO - that being investor education.
Critics will point out that many investing subjects and decisions are inextricably linked to politics. Therein, I suppose, lies the problem.
Fortunately the political threads and extraneous political comments were made by only a handful of members-5 to 7 at the most. Hopefully the 2022 midterms will generate few political comments on this website !
Yes-and with the departure of an esteemed member who shockingly provided numerous jarring comments, I hope things will settle down going forward! (I wish that member would resume posting-just without the political comments!)

All true. I’ve reached out. Am sure others have. Former esteemed member appears content on another forum (IMHO a lesser one). So it goes

(Had a really intelligent comment to post … but seem to have forgotten what it was.)
