Trump uses White House stage to attack Biden as ‘destroyer of American greatness’
“The cost of the Biden shutdown would be measured in increased drug overdoses, depression, alcohol addiction, suicides, heart attacks, economic devastation, job loss, and much more ... “ he said.
Dan Rather had it right: "The Trump re-election strategy seems to be to argue that only Donald Trump can save America from Donald Trump’s America."
Nothing like hosting a Super-Spreader event for the sole purpose of stroking one's ego (and conducting nationally-broadcast gaslighting) and lighting off 10 minutes of fireworks over this town like it's his own personal effing Fourth or July.
Debasing the WH and Washington Monument for cheap partisan points was disgusting, too. But then again, norms, rules, ethics, laws, and taxes are for suckers, losers, and other people -- not Tweety Amin, the Gaslighter-in-Chief.
The law enforcement–obsessed 17-year-old who was charged with shooting and killing two people and injuring another in Kenosha, Wisconsin, during protests for Jacob Blake appeared in the front row at a Donald Trump rally in January.
Kyle Howard Rittenhouse’s social media presence is filled with him posing with weapons, posting “Blue Lives Matter,” and supporting Trump for president. Footage from the Des Moines, Iowa, rally on Jan. 30 shows Rittenhouse feet away from the president, in the front row, to the left of the podium. He posted a TikTok video from the event.
He delivered his remarks from a flag-festooned stage
Great, terse description. I found the whole display including the fireworks somewhat reminiscent of the Casino Royale (1967) scene in which Orson Wells performs magic in an over-the-top setting. Specifically, the last 40 seconds (starting at the 5:15 mark); his whole performance starts at the 1:30 mark.
These multi-flag displays always makes me question whether it’s an appropriate use of our national (one country under God) symbol? After all, men and women have bled and died for us underneath that sacred symbol. Not illegal. Not even unethical. But is it appropriate?
The Dems do the same thing (minus a few flags) so I don’t think this is a partisan observation. I think it started as a fad back in the Bush vs Gore period when the candidates or their attorneys would speak adorned by national flags. But I recall only 5 or 6 at most at one time - not 40 as there appeared last night. At 40, our flag becomes essentially wallpaper.
Am I just old-fashioned? Here’s JFK with just one flag. Yet the guy exuded more eloquence, class, patriotism and good humor than Trump does or ever could wrapped in 40.
In our household we followed the advice of not tuning in so as to reduce the number of people watching. In fact, on Wednesday lightning fried our AT&T modem leaving us without internet, TV or phone for about 36 hours. Some might say we received a message from some power greater than ourselves.

Yup. Sound advice. I shut the projector down at 11:00 after finishing “The King and I” on Broadway HD. Turned on Bloomberg to glimpse the overnight futures. OMG there he was still going. Ruined a perfectly fine day. Than he had Pence stand up and take a bow for the “remarkable job” he did defeating the “China Virus.” Poor Pence. Thinks he’s in line to succeed Trump. Got news. This is a family operation. Best bet - son-in-law Jared - provided Trump hangs on.
I skipped it --- I was in bed by 1020 last night, got woken up by his fireworks show, grumbled a few times, and went back to sleep. I can't stand the sound of his voice, especially when reading from a teleprompter.
