/The U.S. Should Set Up A 9/11 Commission Over Its Coronavirus Response, Says Representative Adam Schiff

Topline: Congressman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), wrote on Twitter Wednesday that he’s working on a bill to create a formal nonpartisan commission to review the country’s response to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, referencing the commissions created to investigate the attacks on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the World Trade Center in 2001./

Sorry to post politerized-aricle. Trump may not even available for 2020 (resignations?)

Any changes in your investing themes knowing we may have world ending events in front of us?

Anyone rushing to more cash due to these uncertainties, economic collapse, severe contractions in multiple fronts, housing collapse, massive unemployments rising.

Many pundits predicting black swans (some say worst than 2007-09)

I still dont understand why we have not reach dows 10000 yet...we maybe there in few months?

Comments

  • Sorry to be stupid. I was not born in this country. Can you please explain why Schiff's doings makes the DOW go to 10000???

Hi sir I was thinking with that much pain ahead /much uncertainties- (multiple risks factors) _why market has not reached 10k levels yet (or maybe we maybe too early)

Then again in 3 months all these events may pass and we may head to recovery. We also have many optimistic reasons hoping for market rebounds
  • Okay...well, by such reasoning markets should never have been so high in the first place. It was just looking for a reason to correct, IMO.
  • Howdy folks,

Hey, I hate Trump too, but we really don't have time for this crap right now. We have a problem. Same thing for Bernie - the revolution can wait - we have a problem named Trump to deal with first.

    And so it goes

    Peace and Flatten the Curve

  • The only problem I see aside from covid19 are the crooked liberal Demoncraps in Congress, especially the drunk Pelosi & Shifty Schiff...drain the swamp!! TRUMP4Life!

Where do the trolls come from? How do they find us here? Don't feed the trolls. Just a friendly reminder. I come across stuff like that and it makes me despair for the country: Idiocracy.
  • I didn't realize this was a Demoncrap/Communist propaganda board...guess this is becoming just like all other media outlets, moderated by DNC hacks censoring every conservative voice. I see all kinds of Trump/conservative hate posts on ehre, but let 1 conservative post anything & it'll get deleted.
  • President Trump nor any president should not get all the blame or the credit for what happens in and to our country. Plenty other politician and leaders need to share the blame/credit. The world is to complicated to think otherwise. I ignore the political post mostly but rsordn you are not alone at MFO.

Hi @rsorden. Not all of us on the board are against Trump.

I'm a conserative North Carolina Democrat that voted for and supports this duley elected Republican President (Trump). Running Hillary for President was and remains a big Joke. Problem is the Dems have no one that can beat Trump ... Not even Sleepy Joe. So, they are left with sour grapes and try everything possible to remove him from office. If Trump is on the ticket come fall ... he has my vote. Furthermore, Pelosi needs to go along with Shiff and Shumer and they can take my Congresswoman, Alma Adams along with them.

    I am, Old_Skeet
  • Don't you think we should blame Trump's virus failures on impeachment?
  • Hi @Mona, Thinking back Trump wanted to better secure the Southern boarder (through continued construction of the wall) so the Country could better control illegal immigration. Who took issue with this ... the Dems. From my perspective my own Democratic Party is more responsible for the issues the Country now faces more so than Trump. And, I don't believe Trump has failed us.

    Hi @Old_Skeet, sad. Real sad.

    Stay safe.
  • +1 @Mona. Despite evidence to the contrary, skeet believes his president when he says "no I do not take 'any' blame... I did nothing wrong". Blinders on...

    @rsorden
    You noted:
"The only problem I see aside from covid19 are the crooked liberal Demoncraps in Congress, especially the drunk Pelosi & Shifty Schiff...drain the swamp!! TRUMP4Life!"
If organization "x" were starting a mutual fund, HATEX ; and they were soliciting investors, one would need real data to support the above statement, of why someone should invest in the fund based solely upon the criteria statement.

I read only accusations, not data to support the accusation.

One may discover similar at Facebook and Twitter, etc.

A common "share" at Facebook over the past several months is that, "the Democrats voted to block a C.O.L.A. increase to Social Security". This SS function is an annual data event via the Dept. of Labor, based upon the C.P.I. index, and has no congressional vote. When I asked a person I've know for 40 years why they posted this false information, my reply was a simple, "Oh, well." A pure function of divide the citizens.

Indeed, the citizens are divided. Sadly, I don't receive via email or direct conversation from far right conservatives I know, to help explain the benefits they receive monthly that arrived through the path of "socialism". Some of this being a pension that arrived from prior years actions from their grandparents and parents to support a union. Nor the social support programs some of them have been involved with at various times over their and their children's lives....social services, food stamps, etc.

And from the habits I know many of these folks have had over the lifetimes (many now retired), if not for Social Security and Medicare they would be up the creek without a paddle. Yes, some argue about being forced to pay into SS and Medicare and the rest of the "socialist system". Yes, indeed; and if you had not been "forced", based upon your known spending and budget habits over your lifetime, where would you be today? Generally, way up the creek; not only without a paddle, but without a boat, too.
I know these folks and their habits; and they know, I do know. They do not attempt to provide an argument to the contrary and yet, today; they continue to scream against the "socialist" state; whatever they perceive that may be. A kinda, "I've got mine, you get yours."

There remains corruption, lack of clear thinking and all other verbs of description for many politicians at all levels of government.
The real harm for the country overall comes from the vast reach of social media and lack of a proper discussion based upon more than hate, from wherever it arrived.

Lastly, the hate is so ingrained; that too many of the Facebook pages I visit remained in the "this is only the flu" mode for so long. A "Demo" hoax. Well, we all probably realize otherwise today, eh?
I emailed three folks I've know for more than 30 years about the "hoax" accusation; and that if COVID is more than the flu, none of us (+70 years) will survive if we contract COVID. I've not had any replies from since 5 days ago. Perhaps they are already infected.

Okay, back to satisfying the portfolio positions.

Be safe, for whatever that may mean to you and your loved ones.

  • I don't think Trump fail us. I think he has acted swiftly knowing the grave conditions after late Feb/formulation of COVID-TEAM, having daily briefings to ease anxieties amongst Americans; although he may have downplay the virus at the beginnings. While DNC was very busy trying to finishing up Impeachments until late Jan/Feb, they may not pay attentions to virus issues at all.

Now POTUS has accepted these facts and working vigorously to help many Americans. I do believe both teams should be on same page to alleviate necessary steps/do whatever necessary to help country moving forward. Our longstanding dominant economic powers and high standings in world orders depend on it. Both sides probably/partly at faults but Trump alone would not be the sole scapegoat imho. I do think the COVID team would be the ones that help trump w/ 2020 if reelected. Still long term many uncertainties left.

If post gets too political will ask moderator to consider taking post down.

On other news, massive unemployment numbers posted today by Labor Dept. Unclear if we finish w/ positives today w/ DOWS.

We may never know the bottom but maybe closer next few weeks/ month[s]. Maybe good to consider DCAs slowly over time. We've been buying slowly past few days/up coming weeks. In 3 years we probably forget all these current events and maybe laughing our ways to the bank.

A portion of this thread is already biased to the extreme from a statement.
Go for it, flag the thread. I have already copy/pasted what I need.
  • Howdy folks,

Trump is directly responsible for 10s of thousands of coming deaths that could have been prevented. That said, he's only partially responsible for the grand total body count. I talked with my brother who's in the business.
He says it's going to be much worse than the low end projections. There is no surge capability anywhere in the system. All that disappeared during budget cuts over the past several administrations. In addition, we're on a just in time supply system. Lastly, because of the lack of testing the problem is way worse than we're seeing and hearing

    Buckle TF up

    And so it goes

    Peace and Flatten the Curve

  • If the southern border constituted a significant health threat, then Trump failed us. It took him seven weeks after restricting travel from China (Jan 31) to restrict travel from Mexico (March 21).

As far as construction of the wall for reasons not related to health, I image that another Democrat, were he still with us, would have handed out one of his golden fleece awards for it.

[I use this "award" as a shorthand. It does not represent my support for Proxmire's targeting. Here's a column about another likely target, though one he missed - that led to the development of PCR-based testing now being used in coronavirus tests.)]

On cost: Cato's analysis of the cost of the wall (The Cost of the Border Wall Keeps Climbing and It’s Becoming Less of a Wall ).

Despite the costs and disregarding Trump's failure to fulfill his promise of having Mexico pay for the wall, the Senate stood ready to work with Trump on a wall. The WSJ documented three proposals out of the Senate that failed because of Trump, and Trump alone. Offers from the Democrats (Schumer), from the Republicans (McConnell), and a bipartisan bill.

WSJ: The Wall Funding Deals Trump Rejected

Trump failed in The Art of the Deal, long before he failed in crisis management.
  • It's so cute how the lemming liberal want their cake & eat it too...how soon they forget that Trump was criticized as racist, a xenophobe, etc for his travel ban by every leftwing communist (I'm sure we can all go find drunk Pelosi's tweets ripping him). So which is it, clowns? Trump is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't...cuz liberals are perpetually butthurt that they lost 2016 & are losing again in 2020. Trump may not be perfect, but he's 10000 times better than crooked Killary or even that anti-American war traitor Osama..err Obama...
  • Hi, guys.

I'll reopen this thread in 24 hours if you'd like but, for now, the heat:light ratio seems to be getting a bit high.
