FYI: Last month on CNBC, Warren Buffett announced his annual NCAA tournament bracket contest for Berkshire Hathaway employees. First prize is $1 million a year for life for any employee who picks a perfect Sweet 16 in the tourney. Regards, Ted https://rpseawright.wordpress.com/2019/03/18/hows-your-bracket/
Can't cheer for a team other than my own: Gonzaga. They're set to meet Fairleigh Dickinson or Prairie View, 21st March in Salt Lake. I guess "Prairie View" used to be what had been forever called "Texas A&M?"
Prairie View A&M is a HBCU that plays in the SWAC. The Texas A&M Aggies play in the SEC, and are hiring a new coach they hope will lead them back to the NCAA Tournament.
Thanks, @Ted for the plug! But it sounds like you yourself don't hold out much hope for the dawgs. @carew388 HBCU Home Brew Credit Union? I do recognize SWAC. Ahhhh, ok. Traditionally black college-university. ...And here's another variation: "Land Grant Colleges." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land-grant_university
@Crash You're correct. The larger Land Grant Colleges were founded based on the Morrill Act of 1862. HBCU's in the former Confederate States were established through the Second Morrill Act of 1890 based on my review of Wikipedia.
@MFO Members: Getting ready to watch my Hawkeyes best the Bearcats. Regards, Ted
I've seen Cincy a couple of times this year, but not Iowa until just now. Saw about 1/2 of the first half, and like 'em. They're playing hard on defense, and from what I could make out from a short watch, they run the zone really well.
But I think Wofford's going to be at the top of my fan list as long as they're in it. They put on a heck of a show the last few minutes against Seton Hall last night.
Fifteen of my picks have made the sweet sixteen. My looser that failed to make the sweet sixteen was Kansas St. My picks to make the elight eight are Duke, Michigan St, Gonzaga, Michigan, Virginia, Purdue, North Car and Kentucky.
Should be a great game @Crash. Duke, NC and Virginia are the top dogs in the ACC, but Florida State is right there too in a loaded league. I have the Zags losing to Virginia in the final in my pool.
Hats off to the Gaels. I'm never a fan of basketball until March, every year. I'd thought Gonzaga was winner in WCC, but it was St. Mary's this year! Surprised me that GU was ranked #1 NATIONWIDE. No more, I suppose, after losing the Conference title game.
My six picks that have made it to the elite eight are Duke, Michigan St, Gonzaga, Virginia, Purdue and Kentucky. The two that failed to make it were North Carolina and Michigan. My final four picks are Duke, Gonzaga, Virginia and Kentucky. I have Duke taking the Championship.
I'm not a BB fan (unless my uni does another 16th-seed upset like last year) but every time I see this thread and "How's Your Bracket" I keep flashing back to my orthodontist during my teenage years. So thank's for that piece of nostalgia.

Ok, I'm dreaming.

@Ted, not in about 45 years, but got to say... those were fun days, from what I remember of them .

>Edit: now I see you've had other responses. Anyhoo, PV's women's team is in the WNIT, playing at TCU in the first round tomorrow night.

Yep ... getting a little ahead of myself.
Anyway, now, you've got my picks to make the elight eight.
May the best team win, Derf
