Sears: Open For Business

FYI: Sears Holdings Corp (SHLDQ.PK) Chairman Eddie Lampert prevailed in a bankruptcy auction for the U.S. department store chain with an improved takeover bid of roughly $5.2 billion, allowing the 126-year-old retailer to keep its doors open, people familiar with the matter said Wednesday.

  • Howdy,

As an aside, I just ordered a part for my dishwasher and it worked just fine.

    and so it goes,

    peace,

    rono
  • @rono: How old was the dishwasher & make ??

  • @Derf - I've been using an electric Kenmore clothes dryer since 1976. Two years ago I had to replace the belt which spins the drum.

I also have a 24-yr old Kenmore washer still going strong.

Have a Kenmore washer, dryer & canister vacuum cleaner all 20+ years old and still running fine. The name has always been highly respected. That’s a bit odd - since Sears was known to brand devices made by assorted manufacturers with the prized Kennmore label.

Let’s not get carried away here. Bought a Craftsman power lawn mower a few years ago and it was a piece of trash. Took it back for a refund.
  • It's not always possible to find out who manufactures for Sears although Consumer Reports sometimes provides the information. Panasonic makes Kenmore cannister vacs and Whirlpool provides many of the appliances. FWIIW, Panasonic, of which we own two TVs and 3 vacs, has abandoned the US consumer market.
  • I guess the reopening is a bit of good news. It'll give everyone affected by the government shutdown a place to wander around aimlessly doing nothing with the paychecks they don't have and won't be getting.

No vacuum cleaners, that's for sure.
  • Thanks, @msf, I need some wonder and inspiration for my failing hearing. Technics had a good reputation in the "hi-fi" days.
