The Store (It Would Seem) Is Not Dead (At Least For Now)

FYI: Amazon isn’t going anywhere, so shops that would rather not shut down are adapting, resulting in a somewhat surprising retail renaissance.

IMHO physical stores are not going anywhere. They may downsize, consolidate, reconfigure, adjust, whatever but they will still persist. Granted for some things like electronics, brand name tools and others one who knows what they want and price shop for the best deal. But for other items like clothing in particular folks like to try things on for fit, feel the material, check the fit and so forth. Store shopping is also a social experience which many seem to enjoy - get together with friends and maybe toss in a lunch or a margarita or two. Online shopping might feel like a godsend for some folks but it isn't a cure-all.

edited to add - and no, I did not read the article.

To the point for us is that we always purchase gas for the vehicles at one of the nearby community gas stations. Not that the stations are not large companies, but the employees live in the community, too. Same for grocery shopping and anything we are able to purchase locally. Yes, we purchase some items online. Recently purchased a replacement battery for laptop that could not be obtained locally.
