High-Flying S&P 500 Actually Down Last Three Years ? Investors Think So
"When 1,000 investors were asked whether they thought the S&P was up or down during each of the past three years, 66% thought it was down in 2009, 48% thought it was down in 2010, and 53% thought it was down last year."
These people are not "investors". They are morons.
Reply to @Old_Joe: It's a little unfortunate (although pretty surprising) though, and really speaks to what I was talking about the other week, regarding financial education as a requirement at the high school level.
Wondering whether this was an in-house survey (Franklin Templeton acct. customers); or other; as related to what is/are the "investor" base noted.
We here, of course; understanding the difference between the words investing and investor, eh? 'Course, a too common problem; also related to elections, is that so many folks (who are otherwise fairly bright, knowledgable and want to do the right thing) find themselves so consumed with attempting to make a living; that investing and many other things do not obtain the proper attention; as there is no time remaining in one's day.
