FYI: Stock picking is hard. You can invest significant time and effort and still not get the results you want. Just ask professional fund managers. The average fund underperforms the index by -0.41% a year according to a recent study. That’s because on average the time and effort involved in finding good stocks more than offsets the performance gain, even for professionals.

  • Or you can just buy some AOR (or AOA, AOM, AOK for different ratios).
  • In my retirement portfolio .I use etfs mainly for sectors or enhancing managed funds I own. I own IYE, IYJ, PJP (one of two faves), PKW (other fave), RHS, VNQ, XLP and VIG. I added VIG since when I moved to Merrill, I could no longer add to VDIGX which I owned, but VIG is pretty close.
