FWIW, I've had the impression for the last couple of years that the Fed has been increasingly more open with respect to what they may be considering, starting with Bernanke. I have no real idea whether this is good or bad, but I'm leaning towards th…
Once in a while at a restaurant I'll order a Scotch Old-Fashioned. Last time the waitress asked if I wanted a "premium" Scotch. I advised her that if one ruins Scotch by adding all that other crap you might as well use the cheapest that you've got. …
@johnN: You know John, since you profess to believe that the "average" government worker makes 120 - 150k a year why don't you get a job at your local airport screening luggage? Not much intelligence required, not too hard. Sounds like you'd be happ…
"Chris Edwards is the director of tax policy studies at the Cato Institute and he is the editor of Downsizingovernment.org. His latest analysis of total federal employee compensation has just been published."
@johnN: Really impressive source, John.…
"Studies find"
Care to provide specifics and references for these "studies" John? Or is this just more of your usual line of unsupported and unsupportable crap?

"@Old_Joe, "9dupp" is a well known internet term that means "to heck with you Ted, I can post whatever I want". I'm surprised you didn't know that :)"
@MikeM: Of course I knew that! Must have been a momentary "senior moment", I guess. :)
I think it's incredibly unfair of you folks to expect Jo-Jo to present an accurate, well-reasoned and fairly balanced presentation. If Individual #1 isn't required to do that, why pick on one of his acolytes?

From the article:
"Lawyers for President Donald Trump are invoking the government shutdown to seek a delay in a court case over claims that Trump is illegally profiting from business his Washington hotel does with foreign countries."
Let's see no…

Well, I wonder if Powell will sleep better tonight. The upswing must undoubtedly be due to the fine work at the Fed, since the downside was all Powell's fault. Right?
“The only problem our economy has is the Fed. They don’t have a feel for the market,” Trump said.
And here I didn't realize that the Fed's main purpose was to sustain the stock market. I'm sure learning a whole lot more about this stuff since Trump…
"please do tell why folks were enthusiastically buying... six months ago"
@hank- Well, not all of the folks were. But you know that. Going to be interesting, though.
Great idea Donald- let's punish Federal Parks workers because this fence thing is all their fault. Hell, they don't need to feed their families over Christmas.. they can all go to the Salvation Army for meals. Maybe just keep not paying them until w…
@Old_Skeet- Leaving aside for the moment who voted for who and why, let's not ignore the fact that under Ben Bernanke and Janet Yellen the Fed, virtually single-handedly, managed by hook or by crook to ease the United States out of the "Great Reces…
