I think using your existing ROTH IRA is the way to go because of the 5-year rule withdrawal. If you open a new account, you have to wait 5-years before penalty free withdrawal; your existing Roth IRA is likely older, and get you sooner to penalty fr…

Interesting that Tim Cook of Apple is not on the list! Not sure why he doesn't get a "lot of respect".
Is it because he came out of the closet? Only thing I can think of; he is doing a good job, if not better than Google CEO (a lot of recent google…
I can't wait to read more responses to your questions; I own FSPHX and FBIOX in addition to VGHCX (which is not on your list; you may want to add that to your list to complete your research).
PRHSX was closed when I was reshuffling my portfolio, bu…
I wonder if they are for sale again - this article reads like a 'promo' for a company that doesn't like publicity ......... if they sell out, hope it is to a good company. I will hate to sell out of POAGX.
"THE VANGUARD RELATIONSHIP was critical, b…
This is from the same company that dropped coverage for the best drug in HCV class? (that is Harvoni from Gilead; instead Express Scripts negotiated exclusive agreement with less efficacious drug compared to Harvoni).
Don't drugs work differently …
On GILD, also keep in mind the huge buyback program - $5B last quarter at an average of $102.36 (reduction of 26% of float); with approval for $15B additional buyback.
Finally cleaning up on my emerging/frontier funds: put in to sell WAFMX and AEMSX (ABEMX).
WAFMX holdings are 7% Latin America, and 45% Africa (almost half of that in Nigeria and Kenya). Nigeria is oil dependent, and consumer products are import d…
@equalizer: you can look at Primecap's own line up (POSKX & POGRX - POAGX is closed to new investors).
These folks manage Vanguard's Primecap funds; though ER at 0.62% and 0.63% are a tad higher than Vanguard's (Vanguards are 0.47%/0.44%) - b…
Added to existing funds: FSPHX, VGHCX, FLCSX, FSCHX, FSDPX, and OSMYX. There goes all of my "dry powder".
Done for now; will wait for year-end distributions (and subsequent re-balancing).
Perhaps Fidelity Overseas, FOSFX (70% Europe, 18% Japan) - improving under new manager since 2012. Just a tad better than FIGRX suggested earlier (FIGRX is 65% Europe, 18% Japan). And don't forget FDIVX (61% in Europe and 18%, Japan).
But if you ar…
Thanks Shadow. What do you think of the fund?
It is being added to my 401(k) effective Jan 2, 2014 - we are getting the MLRSX (Class R6, ER 0.63%) to replace Vanguard Morgan Growth Admiral, VMRAX (ER 0.26%).
Are the funds changing as well or just the 401k company?
If the funds are changing, then you need to see how the old funds are being mapped to the new funds. If you have new funds, and the old ones are not being mapped to "how" you like it, then it…
Ted: You got me there; but in any given year, I will gladly take the returns of any of the 3 funds: PRHSX, FSPHX, VGHCX. They are all good - like I wrote, I had my eyes on those juicy dividends, but I am sure the returns in marketwatch includes re-…
POAGX is an excellent fund with Healthcare (33.7%) and Technology (29.6%) dominating the top sectors. But check out the dividends on those dedicated Health sector funds :-); particularly, FSPHX and VGHCX!!!
Faced with a similar decision a year ago,…
WTIFX is one of my existing funds that I have been thinking of liquidating to add to WAFMX - it has been lagging this year, but I am now more inclined to keep it and ride it out. Thanks for the responses.
Holding periods for most funds now range from about 30 days to 90 days (with few sector and EM funds with more than 90 days).
Are you going to be trading your funds that often? Seems like life on the FastLane :-)
