Other than Schwab where else but directly can you buy MRFOX?
Catch, thanks for your sharing your ideas. I'm doing some of all of what you suggest. In the process have accumulated far more funds then makes sense. I recognize that some of these absolute funds are strictly equity funds, such as FCNTX. I thoug…
I'm very reluctant to put money in bond funds, but I do have bond funds. I think an all equities is way too risky. On the other hand who wants to hold cash or short term bonds for a guaranteed loss?
This has led me to ponder the wisdom of inves…
TED posted this article recently. maybe your asking the wrong question!!

Thanks, Ted and David for your comments. I think that Vanguard Star and FPA Crescent or the closest comparables but both are somewhat different. Crescent is far more tactical when it comes to cash, and Star doesn't vary much both in percentages and…
I use my credit card and pay the balance of each month. I also use a debit card at merchants that only accept debit cards. My main grocery sore does not accept credit cards. Why not use cash? Frankly cash is a pain. I can pay with a debt card an…
I find it very interesting that these independent boutique funds close their funds at far smaller AUM's then the Behemoths. Are there suggested maximums for different cap sizes and supportive studies? I know there are a number of variables such as…
Kevin, In selecting SFLNX did you also consider FNDX from Schwab? It is a Large Cap fundamental Index ETF which might work out better in a taxable account. It has a slightly lower ER, .32 vs .35. I don't know whether selection criteria is any bet…

I read the Reuters article. Either that article used the wrong symbol and the Morningstar symbol was incorrect. The article was about the Strategic Investment fund and not the Strategic Income fund which is a bond fund while the Strategic Investme…
I've often read how indexes beat active managers. What I don't hear about usually is a comparison on a risk adjusted basis. The S and P 500 funds are quite risky. I don't know how large blend funds compare on a risk adjusted basis.
I see here on this thread that some people say Artisan global select has better risk adjusted returns than Oakmark global select, but Oakmark has a much lower ER. I think in the long term this will be a big advantga for Oakmark.
Very interesting comments: I will simplify. I'm convinced that for me consolidation is in order. Now the hardest issue will be and if and how to consolidate funds with big gains in taxable accounts. If they are passed on upon death to my children…
Reply to @Charles: Thanks I'll check it out. I read in Morningstar that they don't think the ETF's or as suitable for EM as are individual funds. I own Seafarer, and maybe that is as good as it gets.
CHARLES, MAX, Looks like two good ways to approach the when to buy issue. I've been selling some bond funds and purchasing equity funds, and wondering whether to wait before adding more equity funds.
Charles is the Morningstar Market Fair Valu…
David and others, You said you have HSTRX Paired with RPSIX. Would you consider that good coverage to take care of one's bond allocation on a permanent basis with periodic rebablancing. I recognize that it includes equities as well and Hussmans a…
