  • TRAIX management fee is 59 basis points, still not the lowest quintile. It would have to be below 50 basis points to qualify. Source? On the TRAIX M* price page is a bar graph divided into quintiles that labels the price of TRAIX as "low" (first…
  • PRWCX didn't make the cut because its cost isn't much below average. But TRAIX's is, and it is available to individual Summit Preferred Services customers at T. Rowe Price with a $50K min. ("Must be a share class accessible to individual investor…

  • @hank, I would hesitate to call any duration bond fund as a "hedge." It is a volatility damper or ballast, but IMHO only cash or T-bills or a skilled execution of a puts/shorts/options strategy constitutes a true "hedge".
  • I am going to buck the trend on this thread because as a paid M* Investor subscriber I have not experienced any issues with the new site and I like most of the changes: 1. The upgraded mobile app now works for linked portfolios (although charting an…
  • Well that is broadly true of all US Large Cap funds. Management picks and allocations make all the difference. The money is made in the margins.
  • I bought into CGUS pretty close to inception and it has been a fantastic fund. Morningstar recently downgraded it's medalist rating from GOLD to NEUTRAL due to a management change so I'm currently re-evaluating but performance has remained excellent.
  • Better performing companies tend to have div payout ratios within a certain Goldilocks range - not too low and not too high. My point exactly. Since we now seem to be in full agreement, it is probably an opportune moment to end this discussion.
  • Reports are from multiple sources. https://x.com/BitcoinNewsCom/status/1805282196082597917 https://www.scmagazine.com/news/lockbit-claims-ransom-negotiations-with-the-fed-over-33tb-of-stolen-data https://securityaffairs.com/164873/cyber-crime/lockbi…
  • Three Floyds Zombie Dust. Or, really, anything 3 Floyds.
  • Good info, thanks
  • Any comments on Primecap Core vs Primecap? I am considering adding Primecap Core to complement my current stake in Capital Opportunity fund. Compared to VHCAX, VPCCX leans more toward Large Caps (72% vs 66%) and Value (25% vs 20%), which should make…
  • https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2024/06/16/fareeds-take-europe-america-pace-gps-digvid.cnn Insightful, but does the current US/Euro gap indicate future trend or represent a possible turning point? One thing for sure, the US will not stay this far a…
  • Bingo! Thanks, I guess? PRWCX sometimes (often?) lags during the year at least partially because it takes most of the first quarter just to catch up. Your hypothetical PRW2X would begin each cycle with less handicap and therefore less initial lag…
  • 14% developed, 1% emerging markets. Currently reducing exposure by switching out some pure Internationals for 60/40 globals. I think that there is likely more overall potential lurking in foreign markets than in the possibly somewhat over-valued US,…
  • Look at CEFs with managed-distribution policies. They have high distributions even if not earned, and then, some portions are considered ROCs. But the reality is that managed-distributions haven't helped CEF TRs or discounts. There is lot of data o…
  • Suppose you have 1 million in Fidelity SP500 (FXAIX) and you want $4K monthly. You can create a sell monthly trade on a specific date to run for years to do it...and you are done. Only if you have the stomach for it. If you had $1M on Jan 1, 2022,…
  • That is a promotional material meant to appeal to one’s deep seated anchor, if any. I am more inclined to read the posters’ replies which I skimmed through and found to be well written and objective. Many believe in income investing, even if it …
  • Corporations/businesses are simply not going to give you something for nothing. Of course not, but they should and do reward you for investing. Not for nothing but returning value to shareholders is a legitimate priority for any successful enterpr…
  • ...the dividend would have presumably added to the Total Return Two identical investments will net out equal total returns over a full year cycle, no matter when the distributions are made. That is tautology. There is no point to your comparison, u…
  • Credit user davidmoran for sending this link: https://www.snideradvisors.com/blog/dividends-play-a-big-part-in-performance/
  • @dpf749, It seems you feel you have a nuanced view on the general subject you have been discussing in this thread that others are not zeroing in on. Since your view is not limited to PRWCX but applies to mutual funds in general, do you mind openin…
  • It would help if you could advance some explanation of why the price of a fund, determined by the prices of over 300 underlying securities, would appreciate merely because it distributed a dividend. You missed my point by 180 degrees here. My p…
  • Actually it took slightly more than two months (until Feb 22) for the price to rise to its record-date price, but let's not quibble over days... I appreciate all the work you put into this post, really, but I am afraid I don't understand your over…
  • The underlying premise, viz. that dividends increase total returns, is mistaken No, you are mistaken. For high-quality equity dividends absolutely increase total returns, that is why they are paid: to reward long-term shareholders. The equalization…
  • I can't see the referenced chart, though I suspect it is a price chart and not a chart of total returns. NO! The chart is a Morningstar Total Return graph for the past five years. While it is obviously true that distributions dilute NAV on the day…
  • Even with quarterly dividends compounding, Wellington gets trounced by Giroux's fund. So do most, if not all other 60/40 allocation funds. https://www.dpfaber.com/PRWCX-VWENX-chart.jpg
  • Having said that may be PRWCX will perform better than its peers in June if the Tech trade and market takes a breather and the overweight HC outperforms. What stumped me was it underperforming. TCAF that much. PRCWX traditionally lags its peers …
