Thanks @Crash - I think you are right! ... I LOVE Chateau Frontenac / Quebec but regrettably I have never been to Montreal and I hear that I am missing out! Perhaps when everyone is vaccinated and flights are allowed from the USA ... I will make it…
@Mark - always appreciate your contributions. As a Fidelity customer... do you have some funds you like in this area? Not familiar with Innovator funds.
@raqueteer “ Today's action raises hope that the tech party isn't over just yet.”... I’m of the opinion it’s not over. It’s not in a bubble. It’s where the growth is for the foreseeable future. Like @stillers - I’m riding the MS wave up and down but…
Yes. Warren Buffett made the move in the fourth quarter of LY. Selling Apple and buying Chevron.

Don't know what to think of this success. But... I'm curious.
Oh... I signed up for MFO premium. Absolutely love it. Sent you a suggestion on ratings changes / alerts. But just love the premium. So valuable. Thanks @Charles
Thanks for sharing the podcast. I thought it was a very fair and balanced interview. Plus Kennedy and Reagan and minus Nixon and Carter. I’m intrigued by Cathie. I don’t own any of her ETFs but am interested in researching them further like I am wit…
@catch22 good on you... for the 529. I’d be very happy with those results. Because I was curious, I backtested VFINX over your same time period - it returned 14.3% or near about. But as I said, I would be happy with the 8.7. Very happy - especially …
@catch22 I should have qualified it with "compared to the S&P 500 index". Not necessarily a fair comparison - just a competely different strategy. Invest in equity vs. bonds. Appreciate the responses to this thread and learning different rationa…
There are so many kernels of wisdom in this post. I hope everyone keeps posting and sharing their viewpoint. I hold a few similar funds of @stillers but its so interesting to see peoples approach to choosing funds. Like @WABAC - ER is important to m…
@Derf - you are absolutely right. It was stale info. Fidelity was not updated when I looked. I was down 1.75% for the day. FDGRX, MESGX and MSSMX were my biggest movers in the wrong direction. Still long, though. Thanks for the correction.
@Mark I got rid of all bonds except a very small position in FXNAX. My FNBGX was up quite a bit in 2020 (not sure why and it still trailed S&P index), thankfully I sold before 2021. Why? It’s down 10% YTD. I’m having a very hard time justifying …
Interesting day. I kept seeing 10 year yield ... 10 year yield ... spooking equity holders and bitcoin negative impacting the market, stock market down headlines everywhere all day. CNBC, Yahoo, Marketwatch etc. etc.
Logged into my Fidelity accoun…
BTW @Stillers - re: MACGX ... it looks like you really can buy a great fund at the wrong time (or the high) ... perhaps I should have waited for a dip. The fund is UP 13.37% this year but ... its down 7.83% for me YTD. Eesh. Good thing I purchased f…
Circling back to this topic. @BenWP you make a good point regarding the fact that FSMAX is an index fund with 3200. If I ignore that for the moment, MFO Premium really doesn't like the fund (in it's category) - rating the fund a 2 BUT MFO Premium ca…
This thread was timely. In the news today...

Yes I noticed that today - luck vs. skill ... even some neg in FSEAX which was interesting. "but I will say almost every investment style comes in and goes out of favor'
Good share and poignant quote: "Ark Innovation's stellar total returns attest to its ability to be in the right place at the right time and take advantage of emerging trends. But a closer look at the portfolio reveals plenty of potential risks. In f…
That is some "radical transparency"! Those that know... will understand what is meant by that. It's not a good recipe but Sig Sigma had it's day too. So - time heals all wounds. Hope they figure it out.
I'm not a forecaster and certainly can't predict markets... but studying what happened to markets after the Spanish Flu or the last worldwide pandemic seems like a worthwhile endeavor. It was interesting to me. How were the markets pre-COVID? I don'…
Hey all... a bit off topic (sort of)... but I still own PONAX and IOFIX came across my radar and have read a lot of positive comments on this board about it. It's performing just fine or better than fine in 2021... but did anyone here have palpitati…
Ignoring the ER and Transaction fee for a moment... and looking at the performance... how is that fund a 3 star M* fund? Wow. Interesting fund. Good share Shadow.
I hear you loud and clear @sven on valuations and equity P/E... BUT... the stories covering that topic and sending out the alarms have been have been increasing in frequency the last 3 years. Then in March it was an I told you so moment but it ended…
@hank a 1.34% (no matter the history of lower) - would not get me out of bed. I just can't subscribe to it. It's tough. I now own 1 bond fund FXNAX and it's painful. I divested Intermediate and Long Term bonds last year. I just think... these days -…
Hi all... not trying to spam the thread - I think Telehealth will continue to grow and be extremely important to the Health Sector. My thinking has nothing to do with Covid - its what the Millennial/Gen Z expect: Convenience! So, I found this story …
@MSF yes I can be dyslexic maybe with fund tickers. . . I DID mean VGTSX. And I did mean how well it would have performed. Although... can't I "infer" how well it will do in the future via the historical? If 2008 was terrible and we suffer a similar…
Thanks all. Really helpful info and I appreciate your contributions to the discussion. I think I may just swap for FSMEX but only because I'm trying to simplify/have less funds in this particular account. I think this sector will be strong for a whi…
Just interested in feedback from anyone using Portfolio Visualizer on a regular basis to backtest portfolios. I've been playing with it non-stop (it seems) and I've managed to craft a 401k portfolio that performs the best with the least downside. I'…
