Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
AOK's losses approximate those of intermediate bond funds. Its performance is at least 250 basis points worse than VWINX AONIX FASIX and matches VASIX. A bear market in bonds means there are no more safe haven funds.
To the best of my knowledge, the red "fee" arrow indicates a transaction fee or load, but not both. WATFX just has a transaction fee. VARAX has a load but no transaction fee
I'm guessing that Stalingrad came to mind because it was named after a Russian leader(pre-Stalin it was named Tzaritsyn City), and probably represented the most humiliating loss for Hitler on the Eastern Front.
As an aside Fido lists , in their screener, only 10 utility funds available ntf. Vanguard has a tf, and T Rowe Price, Janus, Invesco, Putnam and Blackrock don't even offer funds. PRUZX seems comparable to FSUTX, but has a tf. I'll probably throw a f…
Oops-my mistake -ACVF is American Conservative Values ETF- and ACV is the Alliance Convertibles closed end fund. I probably should confine my snarky comments to the political blog I post on !
I'm going start a small position in ITB at Fido in my Traditional IRA account, and buy a few more shares of ILF, and possibly IVV and QQQ My IRA's are mostly in cash.
I'm also confused by the bankruptcy status of Dondero and its possible effect on the funds. I've capped my investment at $1,000 at Vanguard and Schwab in HMEZX because I have this irrational fear that my investments could be confiscated or locked up…
Due to the semiconductor chip shortage, auto makers seem to be saving them for the more expensive models. For example the "no dealer fee" Hyundai dealership near me has 18 Tucsons for sale-only 1 of which is the base SE trim. The chip shortage is su…
Yes,Fidelity is more restrictive, 2 examples: VARAX ntf Schwab, Sales Charge at Fido; HMEAX ntf Schwab, tf at Fido. Schwab minimums are lower, but holding period is 90 days vs 60 days at Fido.
I sold the vast majority of my bonds. Most is in cash-the rest is in etfs like COWZ SCHD QQQ ESGV in my ira accounts. When my profits start to erode in the equity etfs, I sell, taking small profits if necessary.
I would argue that Social Security, Medicare and an expanded ACA that covers Medicaid recipients are among those programs that act as worthy safety nets !
