Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
This won't be news to many here, but IMHO there seem to be two types of global/world/international bond funds:hedged and unhedged. Hedged funds have a much lower standard deviation than unhedged funds. To me the hedging policy is as important as the…
Bought FDHY etf. It's performed better than quite a few etfs and OEF, and if the trade goes against me, I'll sell without incurring any short-term transaction fees.
I can. It seems finance professionals always whine about a stock market decline when a Democrat may be elected president. I expect to hear similar comments from Joe Kernan, Rick Santelli, Jeffrey Gundlach, Steve Romick,Maria Bartiromo, John Fund, etc…
I live in Central Florida and fireworks are legal on 3 days-July 4, December 31 and January 1. Given Florida's recent political history, if Agent Orange is reelected, fireworks will be legal on November 4, 2020 as well!
I'm a federal retiree with a TSP account. The F fund is an index fund based on the Bloomberg Barclays Aggregate Bond Index. IIRC, the duration is around 4.5. The 8.65 1 year return reflects capital gains from falling interest rates, similar to the …
ISTR that Michael Price had discussed starting an interval fund in the 1990's to invest in distressed companies and high yield bonds. Unfortunately, ZEOIX has morphed into an interval fund for me as I'm not willing to take a $500 loss(at least for n…
I was an auditor with Arthur Andersen many years ago. We would send confirmation letters to banks to verify cash balances. Weren't any audit tests used to verify this cash balance valued at 25% of total assets?
Maybe-time will tell. However, since my health insurance is an ACA policy, Biden would be much better for me, and that's whom I'm voting for this fall.
Agree completely @Old_Skeet The CTFAX reallocation has completely eliminated my reason for buying and holding this fund. I'd be better off in JABAX PRWCX VWELX or FBALX .I guess it's too much to hope that some other fund family would introduce a f…
I also feel like I'm on the Titanic but I'm hoping it's really the Andrea Doria! If I were African-American I would emigrate to another country/continent (after first checking their racial politics) if at all possible. Canada,Australia, most of th…
IMHO, funds like SGENX MDLOX RPGAX GAOAX are prime examples of global allocation funds. These funds combine US and International stocks and bonds with some cash, and in the case of SGENX a small allocation to gold as "an insurance policy" as Jean-Ma…
I'm using some less aggressive etf's to harvest short-term profits:VIG XLP XLV VDC , since etf's have no minimum investment nor commissions. I've also stopped using Fidelity to buy more speculative investments due to their $2500 fund minimum;I now …
I sold PONAX and PMZAX when they started declining to keep some of my profits. Kept PFOAX and redeployed assets into various bond funds including JAFIX SNGVX and NEFRX . At this point for me return of capital outweighs return on capital.
