Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
Reply to @Sven: The Risk Parity strategy is not unique to AQR. Someone posted video about "Economic Machine". That guy practices same thing. Basically it is supposed to be the holy grail.
Investors are doing fine. Unlike at 2000 and 2007 market tops, they have learnt not to give 100% of their money to advisors. Looks like advisors not earning enough money to buy BMWs and vacation homes, prompting that article. It is THEY who are doin…
I'm calling bulls*** on AQRNX commentary. Q2 never happened. Drawdown came into play. No explanation of why fund tanked in Q2, while we know now it was because it held bonds of undesirable duration. And now they expect fund to behave that way when …
Err...who said we were in a booming economy. This is supposed to be the worse recovery ever. Even recovery after Great Depression was supposed to be better than this.
I can tell you my personal economy is not booming. My salary is not moving, my ut…
I think you are on the wrong board. Still, if you don't cell it, I'm going to buy 1 share. That will ruin your investment.
Don't take me up on it. I have an unimpeachable track record driving companies into bankruptcies. Sell now.
10 % of my entire portfolio is insurance of sorts, people. Some L/S, some alterative, some inflation protection. Hussman is part of that. I'm sticking with it.
I am responsible for about 20, maybe 30 bankruptcies. The world owes me a big favor. I never owned Google, Apple, Netflix, Amazon. If I had,...
I will be the last shareholder in Hussman.
That's why I have accounts with 4 different brokerages and I am building self contained portfolios in each of them. Diversification is not just about asset allocation, but with who, and also who's the custodian.
Everyone is assumed guilty and will…
I should I have clarified. I'm getting rid of ARCNX right now. I got hoodwinked into breaking my rule of buying narrowly focused funds. I should have known better in the first place. I'm still holding AQRNX expecting to sell offsetting losses in ARC…
Reply to @Ted: No it is not a theory. It is a conspiracy.

And if I ever go to a shrink, he will have to pay me. Psychobabble is not free.
Didn't they vote that senate and congress can trade based on inside information and it is okay? Methinks all this nonsense was just so that everyone had opportunity to make their plays.
No one can tell me what I'm saying is a conspiracy theory. Fac…
I worry my manager going on CNBC. Makes me feel his thesis not working and he is talking up his holdings. No more investment in WGRNX for the time being.
At a brokerage you will always have imposed "early redemption" fees regardless of any the fund company levies. So that's why I made the subtly point of being able to put "only $1000". I plan to buy once a month so I can start withdrawing in 60 days …
Sorry Ted, don't get me wrong. What is the point of posting this? There is no probability theory to be applied here based on past returns on this day, right?
Oh come on now, if Scottrade had it available I would have bought it for $1000 anyways. More importantly though, I think this almost completes my "Artisan" portfolio. I'll be buying a little more of the fund periodically, then look for that special …
This is what I think. If your MM is with a major institution, they will either make you whole, or they will collapse. Fido, TRP, Vanguard, and co. and cannot survive a MM that breaks the buck. Not happening. Don't invest in Amco MM.
So here's my good news. I was able to buy for $1000 !!! Fido always has a $2500 minimum. I'm thinking all databases in Fidelity not updated for this fund and it took the "default" of $1000 which is what Riverpark says the minimum investment is.
I will read that commentary, but I think basic math tells me the portfolio does not compute to a market neutral stance.
Also WBLRX is supposed to be more conservative than WBMRX, or so I thought. I'm getting the feeling now it is the reverse.
I'm sure I can do better than that, but where's the fun in that? By the way I know the History channel (go figure why) also did and "expose" on whether there is actually gold in fort knox or not. So the conspiracy theory is quite "mainstream"
I think people can get emotionally attached to their mutual funds and their stocks, but not ETFs. This can be a good thing and a bad thing. ETF Trades are not all free and most people will end up messing up their 401ks given there will be no redempt…
Here's what I think. Let the market correct nicely and swiftly so I can put some money back to work. Let's get it over with people! SELL, SELL, SELL !!!
Shopping list : MXXVX (buy again of course), SEEDX, GOODX, and FMIOX reincarnate.
Will patiently wait years for VGHCX to tank and then buy. Just like I patiently held for years and then sold for very nice profit this year (and early I might admit). When vs Why rules baby!!!
Frankly, it was a sector fund and I wanted out. So I'm …
