Newly investing in APFDX and ARTJX today. Also VALIX and VLAAX. Need to take second look at VGPMX I had held on to since Wellington became manager. Wondering if RYJUX is a good idea as a hedge in my IRA.
Just bought a bit of VLAAX and VALIX. If market heads south will sell ICMAX and ICMCX and average over into the former. Intrepid funds I have held for years. At the very least they should change the freakin name...like Wimply funds.
I want to buy VLAAX and VALIX but I'm hesitating. I'll need to get rid of two funds to buy these if I pull the trigger. Or I'm just going to wait for bigger correction.
Ever wonder what happens to such money? Of all the fines companies pay, is there a website or something that shows how the money is planned to be used, was used, etc?
@Mark What I meant was he is exposing himself for the a-hole he is. Not putting "foot in mouth" as in feeling ashamed or thinking he said anything wrong. That's all.
After all, all these guys are Objectivists masquerading as Capitalists. Not only …
@crash why do we think he put his foot in his mouth. he is being honest about how he feels. i worry about those who think like him but don't say it.
at some level, i say the same about trump too. I would be more worried if he was doing things witho…
I think this was just a wake up call to take some profits and not stay 100% invested. Stop fretting what will happen. If you are 100% invested, just sell a little and go away. It's not going to matter that much.
When $USD starts going up, Internat…
How is TIAA for a broker? I only have my work 403(b) with them (holding 1 American Fund - RWMGX) but have thought about moving some of my retirement investment acounts from TD there to consolidate things and let TIAA be my 'retirement account brok…
An NTF fund and also no 12b-1 fee? I doubt this will happen.
Anyways, TIAA has some surprises in the NTF line up. A lot institutional fund shares are NTF and enable you to get in at lower minimums. I own BEGIX and BOPIX that way.
I was also distressed that TDA bought Scottrade, so distressed that I immediately began partial account transfers to my other brokerages. I wanted to avoid a financial Dunkirk by rescuing my funds from TDA !
I split my risks. Moved my wife's IRA to…
how are these any different from funds offered by the major mutual fund companies?
When I read "Federal" that doesn't mean the government is managing the funds. Is it?
Somehow, whenever the financial industry tries to help me, I'm afraid. I'm not in a rush to add a "trusted contact" to my account. I suspect we will see fraud where "trusted contact" looted an account because THAT was an additional way into an accou…
@Simon No I am not kidding. Markets are at all time highs, I'm sure you have noticed?
And, you did not answer my question. Why didn't this article get published on the dates I mentioned?
@WABAC Lol. Exactly how I feel. Until I sell my international holdings they will not take off. For last "20 years" waiting for "Emerging Value" stocks to take off.
Can someone explain why High Yield / Floating are kinda being lumped together above. I'm reading high yield not good place to be but what about floating rate?
Asking because have some of my MIL's money in PRFRX and I viewed it as conservative inves…
Sorry. When I read the subject of this post, I wanted to come over and say "Excuse me, but I don't fart". Sit on natural gas...
Bad jokes aside, I thought maybe I should buy some stock after my last one (MCI) and was looking at SWN. Then it dropped…
@msf yes, I'm hardly disagreeing with what you said. Basically I was saying IF you are going to invest in a Premier Market Fund then someone like Vanguard who has a lot to lose in terms of reputation would be the safest. I guess any big firm as well…
@msf I thought VMMXX provided a higher yield than VUSXX. I will take a look. If difference not substantial, I should switch.
EDIT: VMMXX --> 1.7%, VUSXX --> 1.54%
@RisklessInSeattle There is a reason majority of my cash is in VMMXX...the only thing safer would be a bank money market fund. I do have a smattering of RPHYX and RSIVX.
@Jim0445. HICOX was a close 2nd. Actually has better risk numbers. 2 questions.
Is this only for Colorado residents?
M* says most of the holdings are "Not Rated". Isn't that a problem?
@hmgodwin. I normally rely on the "No Load" and "No Fee" white on green graphic squares which you will see for other funds. Those do not show for BIVRX. Good if you are right.
@bee, I kinda assumed they will manage transfer in kind. I mean even Scottrade to TDA they did that. I have way higher hopes with Schwab. I was extremely distressed when TDA bought Scottrade. Now I'm very happy Schwab bought TDA, the assumption bein…
You know, just as an example, for the past few years everyone has been saying "go short term" for bonds, but the "long term" bonds have done better. Theory and Practice are two different things.
I often wonder if "you will do better in emerging ma…
Bivrx is most definitely ntf at Schwab.ive been buying it for the past year ntf at Schwab in a regular brokerage account. I doubt there is anything not ntf at Schwab that's ntf at Ameritrade.
Okay, I could have sworn the same too, but...
If you can …
