Pulled this off the Marshfield website. https://www.marshfieldinc.com/
Marshfield is owned by its eight principals who have an average tenure of 23 years. Each principal must invest in the same stocks that Marshfield buys for its clients and may ow…
Before we happened into PRWCX toward the end of 2006, we were invested directly through 8 funds and 4 different fund companies which covered LCG, LCV, SCG, SCV, real-estate and a couple bond funds. I knew nothing about DG at the time other than he a…
@hank
Since we've moved cash we had parked in a MM and a couple bond funds to TRP Cap App & Income (PRCFX), we are back to 95% with DG. 17 years and counting. Whenever I've moved some dollars away from DG through the years it has always cost me…
@yogibearbull
That's what concerns me for a good friend who is 50 years old (married) and has a retirement portfolio of a million already. He hopes to retire at 52 and is planning to be 100% invested in the SP500 until death. He scoffs at the 4% ru…
The fund prospectus is available on the TRP website. Here's a link.

Placed orders to establish initial positions in the fund in a number of our accounts we hold directly with TRP.
I may end up using PRCFX and TRAIX/PRWCX in a similar way that others use Vanguard Wellington and Wellesley to maintain a more conserva…
@Ben
There may be more, but I'm only familiar with a couple other small/midcap balanced funds including Greenspring (GRSPX), Intrepid Capital (ICMBX) and Villere Balanced (VILLX).
DGIFX shines in comparison to this list.
@hank
Per TRP website PRWCX/TRAIX 2.68% cash as of 9/30/23. Giroux recently stated that the fund currently has its highest bond allocation since he became manager----domestic bonds at 30.96% and foreign bonds at 1.32%.
I'm expecting a pretty good …
If FR/BL are so bullish, why have PRFRX and FFRHX been in redemption for probably 1 1/2 years?
Just read in Wednesday's WSJ that individual investors have pulled $13 billion from FR/BL mutual funds and ETF's this year. Are they the "smart money" o…
The fund continues to hold a significant investment in bank loans, 11.2%, 7.9% in Treasury Notes, 9.4% in corporate bonds and 7.9% in a money market fund.
This is interesting given that the aforementioned fund companies (Fidelity and TRP) allow some of their fund managers to hold more than 5% positions in companies.
As an example for a couple of widely held funds from these investment shops;
Fideli…
@Ben
I'm not yet retired, just turned 60, so my situation is a bit different than yours. I, like you enjoy managing our finances and my wife is happy to be hands off though at times I wish she showed more interest. That is largely why 12 years ago …
@Roy, think you are doing the right thing by reduce equity risk as you approach retirement. Five years out is not far away. Shifting more to balanced/allocation funds is another way to increase bond allocation. My high yield and bank loan funds ha…
Recently reduced our equity exposure by ~6-7% and placed those funds into MM and bond funds. Probably within 5 years of beginning portfolio withdrawals and trying to find a personal comfort zone with volatility as we are in a good position for retir…
I haven't opened a position in TCAF as of yet, though I had fully intended to. Doesn't mean I won't, but with us coming to within 5 years or less until retirement I find myself not wanting to add to risk assets and am considering adding to our fixed…
Though not a traditional 60/40 fund, returns for PRWCX are:
YTD 10.49, 1 YR 16.16, 3 YR 10.32, 5 YR 10.56, 10 YR 10.79
Returns for VBINX, a traditional 60/40 index fund are:
YTD 9.81, 1 YR 12.70, 3 YR 6.12, 5 YR 6.84, 10 YR 7.77
Compared to SP …
Curious, as I'm not as knowledgeable in the least bit on bonds as many of you are-with our large allocation to TRAIX/PRWCX and the significant holdings for a number of years of the fund in bank loan/floating rate bonds, how do these bonds typically …
From my May 13 post...yep, even a simpleton called this one correctly. But, y'all made for some entertaining reading.

@JD_co
You could be absolutely right regarding a relief rally upon an agreement.
Biden, McCarthy and McConnell all making comments directly or alluding to the fact that a default is off the table. Actually, it doesn't seem as though the stock mar…
Maybe I'm too much of a simpleton but, here it is.....
THERE WILL BE NO DEFAULT.
Default is being used as a negotiating tool...goes without saying really as you all are very intelligent and already know that. No one on either side really desires …
"Each month of 2023 has seen (microscopic) inflows."
Must be our monthly contributions! ;)
You guys are making progress, we are sitting at 88.4% in TRAIX/PRWCX.
Currently, TRP ETF's have not garnered much in AUM. Blue Chip Growth and Dividend Growth each have +$300M and Equity Income +$100M. Otherwise, mainly $20M or so per fund.
TCAF could be a winner for them?
Regarding Giroux's ability to pick stocks, the following was part of the recent annual report dated 12/31/2022.
"In addition, our equities outperformed the S&P500 by 167 basis points (-16.44% versus -18.11%) in 2022. Over the last 3-, 5-, and1…
Our local bank is still only paying .01 on our checking account, so we only keep a few thousand there as we can quickly transfer cash from PRTXX if needed.
An additional possible contributing factor to TRBCX redemptions is that long-time manager Larry Puglia retired a little over a year ago. Fund is now managed by Paul Greene.
Started adding to our Roth IRAs today, of course into TRAIX/PRWCX.
Cash from my wife's inheritance is sitting in a MMF, no hurry to put to work with interest at a bit over 4% currently.
Trying to decide if we will keep TRP Floating Rate Fund PRF…
@rforno I'm curious about the size of your PRWCX holding, if you don't mind sharing? I'm already up to 36% of total.
Okay, you guys are making progress, but I know you can do better. We are at 88% PRWCX/TRAIX. Had been even higher, but wife had mor…
Agreed, wonderful addition to the group. Also, very thankful for everyone else who shares knowledge and information, I won't begin to name names because I will surely overlook names, so thank you all, you are appreciated.
