@Davidrmoran. I am at the end of long and profitable relationship with SCHD. Would you be willing to share what you learned about the “value outlier? I understand a bit of how the index works and am fascinated by how the algorithm seems to have …
@Devo. I am curious if today’s concentration is meaningfully higher than its historical average. Not trying to use that info to predict future returns.
@Bee. A hybrid like the bucket system? It seems to me that plans laid out before one retires are not so valid once the paychecks stop. So many variables. Since we retired we have experienced a pandemic, zero interest rates, somewhat higher infla…
@YBB. Thanks for that contribution. It might be useful to use different components that go back further than 2012. TR sounds great till one is forced to sell low during a prolonged bear market. And Income is challenging in times of Zero interest …
If you aren’t paying cash don’t you have to provide proof of insurance to actually close the transaction. The lender demands it, and to be named as additional insured so the escrow people won’t let the deal close without it.
The Democratic Party is, if nothing else, not the cult of trump and not the party beholden to the NRA and the ultra wealthy. It is the ONLY party that still believes in democracy and the rule of law. I will leave the last word to you guys.
@dt. “Very fine people on both sides”. No Dt from Texas,,,,one side poses an existential threat to our democracy, one side doesn’t. One side threatens our daily well being with the worship of guns and the acceptance of every week mass shootings. …
@Hank. “Way too much politics.” I am guilty as charged. Maybe Bogleheads have it right. They have Zero tolerance for any remark even hinting of politics. And Zero means Zero.
False equivalency: comparing the spontaneous looting of some local businesses(not to be excused) and the planned looting of the United States Capitol with the intention of disrupting the orderly transfer of power after an election. False equivalenc…
Who knows? Maybe the Dems won’t be able to get enough votes to pass it. Is a poor deal better than crashing the economy? My macro view is the freedom caucus would like nothing better than to crash the economy, create even more turmoil and further …
@StayCalm. I am with you in that it would seem that the President negotiated badly on stuff he told us was not even negotiable. But trusting this Supreme Court to adjudicate the question of the 14th seems risky. As much as it hurts,,,, elections h…
@Dt …. Using the adjective “intellectual “ twice in one sentence to describe another person and said person’s thoughts is never meant as a compliment. So you aren’t fooling ANYONE. And if you believe that millions of trumps red hatted, confederat…
@Lewis. +100. Still I want to respectfully disagree with your last paragraph. Substitute “the repuglican party” for American. They celebrate cruelty and a mean spirit that doesn’t represent what American stands for. It’s funny, today on my block…
@Old_Joe. Sure there are some really wealthy folks who greatly benefit from tax cuts and deregulation. Not enough of them to be one of the two major parties in the country. Those guys feed the ignorant masses the red meat culture war shit to the…
@Tarwheel ,,,,, why do you think “most Republicans Do care about money,,,”? Most Republicans vote against their own economic interests and vote for the likes of Trump because of hot button culture war issues . They are motivated by fear, ignorance a…
@ Tarwheel. At the risk of sounding like a broken record and just plain being redundant,,, “climate-change deniers” are like election deniers and vaccine deniers and democracy deniers. They are repuglicans and they NEVER see the light. Until th…
@stayCalm. Thank you for your comments. I am certain we agree that perhaps a third of the country are 100% behind these facists. That is THE problem. If anyone else here remembers being in the movement in the sixties, we were quick to call those w…
Been a Schwab customer for about 30 years. I stay for the service. Whenever I have a question or concern I can always reach someone who actually seems to care about my problem. Today I got a follow up call from yesterday’s question about POA on ou…
@dt. Weiss ratings give Schwab Bank a safety rating of C with a red down arrow. And digging deeper it is noted to be poorly capitalized. I remember weiss to be a hard grader from my days in the insurance business. FWIW,,, B of A got a C+
@David. Thanks for sharing that. I always judge these discussions by observing if the initial discussion of the 4% rule tells the unsuspecting reader the ground rules. That is that the 4% rule is based on a very specific asset allocation and tha…
If you connect Jan 6 ,,,,, election denialism,,,, worship of the AR 15, crashing the economy while fermenting social chaos by delegitimization of the LGBT community, non Christians and people of color and taking away women’s control of their health …
@David. +1. Since we know the current make up of the GOP doesn’t really care about the deficit,,, anyone care to discuss what the true motivation might be for holding the world economy hostage?
@yogi. With all due respect to your vast knowledge,,,,,, Schwab Bank does o=offer its own CD’s. Perhaps not to the general public but to Schwab customers. I have several,,, They aren’t offering them THIS MORNING but have recently. An example, CU…
