Doesn't give one much time to readjust tax-loss selling plans when it hits so late like this. Maybe I'll just use this fund to "readjust" things out. Yeah, PIMCO, expect a call tomorrow.
likewise.
@Mark Some of my most memorable Christmases were spent in Germany, where my then-husband was stationed with the Army. I loved eating Christmas dinner in the mess hall with fellow servicemen and women and their families...and the camaraderie.

@Mark Thanks! How about AMJ or AMLP....still prefer EPD and MMP? AMJ is trading at a slight discount to NAV.
EDIT: Why the huge ER on AMLP? according to Schwab, it's over 5%!!!
@Old_Joe CVX is yielding 4.5% and XOM is yielding almost 4%. I won't get rich, but I think these two companies have the financial resources to protect those dividends. If they keep sliding, I'm planning to buy more. No, they are not the most exc…
bought some CVX today....still uncertain about MLPs. If oil keeps sliding, I'm thinking about buying XOM, as well.
UPDATE: bought XOM...itchy trigger finger ;) still not buying MLPs.
Paid distribution yesterday. I re-invested it, but not planning to add at this point...having more fun buying new dishes, towels, etc., for new house than watching this anxiety-inducing fund! ;)
I'm happy to see that a reasonable conversation and exchange of ideas on potentially controversial subjects is still possible
Yes, me too! :) May the Force be with you! ;)
Still, the ideal situation would be to get rid of the subsidies and create a junk food/soda tax to help cover the costs of treating people who become obese from junk food. That way those buying junk food would help pay for their own medical costs. …
@larryB A few years ago, I attempted to move some money from Schwab into Vanguard. Vanguard lost my application...twice! Decided it was not worth it and would just pay the TF for Vanguard funds at Schwab.
How long did it take before they taxed the (tar) out of cigarettes? Let's get'er done !

Fine by me...but not before Jan 1, please...still decaffing :(
Quite frankly if we eliminated private insurance altogether and put everyone on Medicare, medical costs per capita would most likely go down.
@LewisBraham At this point, I think we should try it. Obamacare obviously is not what was advertised...l…
In a society, we do things for each other. Otherwise called Socialism. Yes we do have it in our country. Medicare, Medicaid, all socialism. Bank bailouts - socialism. No wait, what am I saying...that's undescribable combination of Objectivism and …
@msf Thanks! Headaches are subsiding, but just don't have my usual energy/alertness/attention span. I've never smoked, but I've heard that's a lot tougher. I've quit caffeine before (eg., pregnancy) and have always reverted when stressed...my dr…
"How is this fair? Should billion-dollar corporations get special health insurance tax breaks while regular American families struggle"
IMHO, he's got this one right. Level the playing field. And while you're at it, don't distort the marketplace…
From the link that @heezsafe included in above post, it looks like the dreaded MLPs are considered "income infrastructure" investment vehicles. Thoughts on this? I sold my MLPs/funds a few months ago on an energy bounce and was looking to get back…
That might be it...the one without the gladiator, but with the mascot resembling a large weasel.
This coming from someone who has a NUT for a mascot?!?!? :D
@PRESSmUP FWIW I'm going to add after distribution, but I'm a little concerned about future performance now that the secret recipe has been made public :(
@PRESSmUP My initial buy was in the March/April 2015 time frame, so this will be my first CG distribution for the fund (12/17 or 12/18, I think). I have read several articles about the fund and manager, but the article Ted posted is the first time…
@slick I'm certainly no expert, but at this point, I would probably wait and see what happens EOY and beginning of 2016...just from a tax loss selling standpoint. If it looks like it's going to bounce, maybe you could hang on and recoup some of it…
@davidrmoran Yes, they said it...and yes, they were suspended. Some on the board might not know that if they don't watch Fox News like you :)
BTW, I have two sons...one is a conservative, one is a lib....I mean "progressive"...they BOTH like to t…
