Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
A common RMD table starts at 3.77% at 73, is 4.06% at 75, and increases rapidly, 6.25% at 85, 11.24% at 95,..., 50% at 120+ (who is that for?).
However, portfolio withdrawals should be based on total portfolios, taxable, tax-deferred, tax-free.
Well…
I think RMDs will require more than 4-5% withdrawal rate for those who are subject to RMDs. But the $$$ can just be reinvested, if desired. If you want to leave some $$$ behind, forget about 4 or 5 or 20%. Make it 3% or lower, if you can manage it. …
Alright. Still makes me want to vomit that he is in his own class of criminals. And it makes me want to vomit even more that half the country supports that Orange Germ.
Glad I started a holding in WCPNX Weitz Core-Plus. It was the only thing in the portfolio which was UP on Friday. A bloodbath sort of day. Wish my holding in WCPNX were bigger. Still holding a lotta junk. Quite un-volatile. That aspect pleases me a …
Important stuff. His are brass. Good for him. His name is written in the Book of Life.
EDIT TO ADD: We've just lately had an after-church workshop to assist us in planning funeral or memorial arrangements for ourselves. Also, there are some paramete…
Again: double standard. Whatever the Judge does will have political implications, but none of it is his doing. The politics of it is extraneous to the crimes of which the Orange Infection has been found GUILTY AS CHARGED.
No computer, last week. In the shop for new battery and OS upgrade.

I just came across this from The Guardian:
In his decision, Judge Juan Merchan wrote that the “court is a fair, impartial and apolitical institution”.
He went on to add that delaying Trump’s sentencing should “dispel any suggestion” that he tried “…
I have to reluctantly agree that the judge's concern about conflating the political environment with the judicial environment is the honorable stand on this situation.
Unlike the Supreme Court, he is trying to keep well clear of influencing the pol…
I do not see high correlation between intelligence and education or age. ( I have learned more life lessons from small kids and animals than from people who are older than I am.)
True.
Yet, @hank's point is valid. We all grow our own a priori assump…
He has all the best words! C'mon! What are you worried about? LOL. The Orange schmuck. It is crazy-nuts, as already noted above, that half the country still adores that FELON-CLOWN. Heads full of "deep state" conspiracies. Cripes.
Damn straight. Buncha very sensible stuff in there. Thanks. I sent it on to a friend whose money I babysit. He's apt to read sensationalized junk and let it freak him out. I "talk him down." All his stuff is in very reliable TRP funds.
Liz, Adam, yes. Solid. They would not upset me, if selected. Latest generic ballot has Harris up +3.2%. But of course, the election must be won State by State. Foolishness.
Hackers = lower than whale feces on the bottom of the ocean. I checked, and a fellow with a different initial is the closest that could be found exposed. Lucky this time.
I do my best to steer clear of The Crowded Trade. It's fun, too, to uncover a good stock that's not getting much or any attention. No more penny stocks for me, though. Diversify, but do not di-worse-ify. Growing cash at the moment. Bullish, but valu…
They also approved new rule changes today mandating that OEFs/ETFs report holdings monthly, replacing the previous quarterly requirement. I think this is a *long* overdue change and one that I particularly welcome.
Have to say that I agree.
The previous posting, from my "Charles Schlob" thread:
Tried again on Schwab's chat. I was directed away from chat to TALK on the phone to CRSS. (Alphabet soup junk-ola.) They told me that in this particular case, (because ET is an LP) the dividen…
Well, I guess that MERDX doesn't mean what I thought at first. :)
The very same thought leapt to my mind. I can't help it. My mind is attached to the rest of me, in the gutter. ;)
Tried again. I was directed away from chat to TALK to CRSS. They told me that in this particular case, (ET is an LP) the dividend would be posted rather quickly, but reinvested shares would ALSO show up on the same day --- unlike most situations. Mo…
Howard Marks is very smart and articulate, but you get generic ideas, and many shades of gray. You also get opinions on both sides to cover his Axx. The one thing you hardly get is what to do now and how markets work, and that's exactly what I'm loo…
Stocks are richly valued right now.Swings between recession and euphoria may offer long term opportunities.
Truth. For the "major," famous, crowded name trades, eh? I have hung onto BHB regional bank in northern New England since rates began to ris…
