Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
Giroux = contrarian as ever. Back to seeing yoots as an interesting moneymaker these days, again. He describes how the fundamental landscape has changed over the course of several years for the yoots.

15 Dec. '23. Vonnie Quinn is almost understandable. She's in for Sonali Basak.

Well. ... DoorDash, eh? Even after the pandemic is behind us, people still insist on paying usurious fees to get victuals delivered. Are we just dumb, or lazy?

My single stock RE pick is PSTL and it was oddly down today while the Market in general keeps on truckin' following the Fed meeting. Stinky Poopy. Nothing but Post Offices(?!)
Yes, what y'all have offered in response to my own response is consistent and true. Thanks to (at last) a responsive employee connected to Norsk Hydro (NHYDY, an ADR) I found out that I could apply for a reduction or refund of the Norwegian foreign …
Not gonna touch any of the critters mentioned here, for precisely the reasons discussed. My experience in this direction is limited to a single ADR which is underperforming. "Foreign issuer" was allegedly the reason for the delay--- not to mention t…
Any suggestions as to which mutual funds one should buy in order to reach that top 1% level?
LOL!
Hank! Ah, the things ya hear when you can't find your gun! LOL.
Well, the numbers are obscene. Ben Graham's "Mister Market" owns no conscience. People ought to own them, however. Which leads to my next point: PEOPLE, presumably with consciences, need to come up with controls and strictures and tax structures by …
Sorry, I'm an interloper in this thread. Just found a(nother) short-term promo CD for 8 or 11 months at Byline Bank. Chicago area. 5.45% yield. With a $5k minimum.

So. Are y'all buying a lot of this fund?
Do we even know what's in it yet?
Good question. Even the TRP website shows zilch about holdings. There is a general statement about the fund's purpose and strategy, which includes monthly dividend distribut…
Really think that is only the tip of an iceberg. Swiss banks are well known for their secrecy to hide the identities of depositors, and thus avoid reporting asset to IRS. Some Caribbean banks also share the same practices.
No doubt about it.
I've been watching-tracking ALK since the 1980s. I was in WA State at the time, where they are HQ'd. I'm glad I never bought any airline shares--- for the very reason quoted by @rforno, above.
ALK has always delivered for me. Can't complain, though…
CNBC: "Hawaiian’s stock nearly tripled on Monday to $14.22 a share, though still below the proposed purchase price. Alaska’s shares lost 14.2% to end the day at $34.08."
I'm still not planning to ever invest in any airline. That's a change from yea…
Sad that you're ill, Dr. David. Let the work just wait until you're feeling better, healed. when this is behind you, then you can really look forward to enjoying Christmas. For that reason, I've scheduled getting my vocal chords circumcised rather e…
I'm going to be 70 next year. Yikes.
So what? I turned 75 yesterday. Double YIK.
three quarters' worth of a century. I hope I make it. Laser-job being done on vocal chords this week. Doctor gives me every indication of success. :)
I don't need the bond divvies yet. But they are pretty juicy in my junk funds, and it pleases me. An FDIC-insured CD is an excellent idea, too. But unless I'm mis-using the term, the CDs behave like zero-coupon bonds. There's no current income, alon…
Anecdotally, I can confirm your observation about junk corporates.
PRCPX in Nov. + 4.55%
TUHYX in Nov. +4.00%.
You're making too much sense! No arguments here.
3% down from the portfolio's all-time high, here. (very early, 2022.) But that's deceiving. I've been adding regularly. So I have NOT made up the covid loss, to say nothing of a few stinky-poopy investment selections I've let go of, and redeployed t…
Geniuses at TRP don't even recognize the ticker. "The fund you have selected is not eligible for trading for a retail investor. Please contact T. Rowe Price Investment Services Inc. for further assistance."
That might just be a boilerplate, catch-a…
