  • I posted a week ago complaining that TRP would not let me view my trust account statements online because the SS# I opened the account with is different than the trust(s) TIN#. I spoke with the TRP rep who said it couldn't be done. I told her I on…
  • I was about to open a new thread when I saw this one. I guess I'm not the only investor to have serious issues with TRP. I initially had a TRP Joint Tenant account which I converted to a Living Trust account without problems. When my wife died, I es…
  • MSF - I really appreciate the effort you put into this analysis! I'm 75, widowed, good health (so far), earning $60K (after 401-K contribution) from working part-time (which I plan to continue). Most of my income is from investments, pension, and SS…
  • Any changes to your guidance?
  • You're right again MSF. It's a 0.92% annual administrative fee for my 401-K. 0.92% = 0.0092 x 1000000 = 9200. 0.04% = 0.0004 x 1000000 = 400. Yes, there is a big difference!

  • MSF - Thank you for analyzing the ramifications of doing a rollover at this time. The math was too complex for my mind. I was more objecting to Sequoia getting $9K a year for doing essentially nothing that Vanguard wasn't already doing, but it looks…
  • Thanks for the reply. My 401-K plan does allow rollovers while still employed, but I'm still questioning whether there's any advantage to doing it.
  • Thanks for the good advice Joe.
  • After inquiring/complaining about not being able to view statements and tax forms for over a month, I FINALLY received this reply from TRP: Regrettably, due to the July 2020 enhancements made to how our statements are generated, account statements…
  • Yes MSF, that IS the image I tried to display. I'm probably too old to understand the ins-and-outs of HTML at this point, but more importantly, I get the same screen when logged into my TRP account this morning. Still no acknowledgement that they re…
  • Apparently images are not supported on this site. It was to show that TRP has no 1099's for my account (for 2021, or any other year). Yeah, I feel like this is beating a dead horse! I sent them one final message: Even though you claim to support 7 y…
  • Just to be credible, this is what I saw when I logged into my account this morning:
  • Has anyone an idea of what's going on at TRP? They don't respond to messages, and I'm not getting on the phone merry-go-round. Although I received my 2021 1099 in the mail last week, it's still not posted online. Even though they say I can view seve…
  • I don't want it to look like I'm bashing TRP - But! I've been logging on to my TRP account twice a day for a week to get my online 1099-Div form. It keeps telling me "There are no Mutual Fund tax forms available for the selected time period." (2021)…
  • I'm sure Vanguard has at least a S360 Mod 50...and don't call me Shirley!
  • I was wondering whether, while some brokerage houses invest in mighty computer resources to crunch their numbers, TRP tries to get by with a PCjr running in the back room!
  • Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for TRP to post my 1099 online. Vanguard and FIDO were ready mid-January, but when Price says end of January, they mean it literally!
  • I recently had to deal with TRP (online and phone) due to creation of a trust. I called their generic number, and was allowed to leave a call-back number. When I gave the Price rep my account info, he said "You're an elite customer ($2M+), I'll have…
  • Compared to TR Price, Vanguard is the epitome of good brokerage service. See https://www.mutualfundobserver.com/discuss/discussion/58965/brokerage-experience-with-t-rowe-price#latest
  • Describing TRP's brokerage service as "sub-par" is an understatement. It's really crappy! That said, I checked my account online this morning, and it looks like it's in order. I just hope not to have to deal with them on the phone anytime soon again!
  • Follow up to my previous post: The 225-5132 number allowed me to leave a call back number. The Price rep called in 20 minutes, I gave him my info, and he said "Oops, you're an "elite" customer because of the size of your account. I'll have to transf…
  • It's been almost 3 weeks, and TR Price still hasn't worked on my disclaimer trust which I wrote the Medallion Signature complaint about earlier. But that's not why I'm posting today. With the large distributions that went into my Government Money ac…
  • Yogi - you do understand that I wasn't withdrawing the money, only re-titling the ownership under terms of the trust. Also, I have $1.5M ADDITIONAL money in my account which they could have used as collateral. What is one supposed to do if they don'…
  • I saw this post by accident, and I would like to share my recent TRP experience by repeating the comment I sent to them: " I'm writing this in hope that it will be forwarded to someone with the authority to act upon it. My wife and I had an AB Livi…
  • I'm reviving this thread to ask the community their feeling about 2020 CG & Div distribution estimates compared to 2019. Higher - Lower - Same? The July 15 deadline for 1st and 2nd quarterly estimated tax payments is approaching and I'd like to …
  • I think the hangup is on the term "rollover". The CARES Act allows a "re-contribution" of funds withdrawn from an IRA before the 2020 RMD requirement was suspended. As I see it, I'm getting a "do over" to bring my IRA balance back to what it was bef…
  • The answer to all three questions is NO, but I'm willing to take my chances with the IRS.
  • Well, I called Vanguard, and they said "Yes", but I have to do it over the phone. They're not set up to do it online. The only wrinkle was, because of their "frequent trade policy", I had to move the money from my Money Market account into ANOTHER tr…
  • My thought was that a QCD is an RMD distribution without tax consequences. Since CARES made RMD's unnecessary in 2020 (after the fact), those who took an early distribution should be able to put it back. We'll see...
  • Thanks for your reply, but what is your "sense" of what to expect in the way of dividends and capital gains distributions for 2020?
  • Thanks for that input, msf. What you say makes a lot of sense. Since what's done is done, I think I'll sit on it for a while, use it as a rainy day fund, then maybe use it for some charitable donations. Who knows, maybe the law will change for what…
  • Those are all good funds, but the problem is that most employees have to choose from 401K funds offered by their employer. My experience is that employers offer funds based on how little it will cost their bottom line, not how well they perform.
  • http://www.barrons.com/mdc/public/page/2_3053-quarterly_A-quarterly.html 1/4/19 was the last online WSJ Quarterly Mutual Fund Report. It now has the Barron's heading, but hasn't been updated since then.
  • I've been searching for the last month for any site that might have mutual fund return comparisons even remotely comparable to the WSJ Quarterly Report - without success. For a while I thought Barron's might take it over, but I guess not. Does anyon…
  • Not remotely similar to what @bilvihur was looking for. No it's not. Sad because the review was very useful for picking keepers and sellers.
  • Same here. I just remembered, that as a TR Price investor, I'm entitled to "Enhanced Personal Services", one of which is a complimentary subscription to access the WSJ Online version (a $468/year value!!!). Yet I can't find a Quarterly Mutual Fund R…
  • Thanks for your update. Any idea where that same general info (quartiles, etc) can be viewed, preferable all in one place?
  • It used to be printed, then about 5 years ago they announced that it no longer would be, but that it could be accessed online (until now).
  • We file a joint return, so it's $270/month for EACH of us. I deferred my SS until I was 70, so it's not as big a hit for me as it is for the wife, who wanted to collect her SS at age 65. Too bad!
