@msf,
I will agree that there were always a few things that made me wonder, too. "The", how come this or that is not set properly. Why do I have to place such and such an entry into the progrram manually; thinking that there would be a automatic ca…
Hi @Mark,
I could not import TT data into the H&R program. But, this was back in 2005 or 2006.
However, according to the first link from Nov, 2013, in this Google Search; TT can be imported into the H&R program.

"Accurately knowing yourself as an investor is the foundation of everything"
A discussed topic here and at FundAlarm for many years.
A personal goal for more than 35 years of investing, to know who you are period; for all things in one's life.

Hi @msf,
We did use TurboTax for a number of years; but switched to H&R about 5 years ago. I have not discovered any problems using H&R.
Just received this year's program CD in the mail recently. The base package is named, Deluxe for $30 an…
Oh, that is what you meant with the words, "What inflation?"
I recall President Ford's "Whip Inflation Now" in late 1974. Inflation, well; stagflation was already in place prior to President Carter.
For those who don't recall part of this period (…
@Tampabay
How is a U.S. president (regardless of party affiliation) directly responsible for a large increase in inflation? Albeit, the two most recent (and ongoing) wars have caused vast sums of debt.
Cost of Iraq/Afgan Wars, one source, March, 20…

Some of the large cap blend index and eft type funds have little direct international exposure. Two Vanguard related indexes I peeked at indicate less than 1% direct.

Thank you for this notation. I was aware of this portion of the legislation; but have not had time to dig further into any of the legal language and implications.
I will read this article and dig around more after the holidays. Much too busy …
Hi @Junkster,
Now, I can only present a presumption. If partial MFO participation is of benefit to your mental state of mind; then the benefit also translates to those around you. Banned is a very strong position and/or condition to establish.

@Ted, thanks. I read Mr. Ritholtz's site related notes (various authors), as time allows.

@Derf You did win and your prize is that you get to keep that money; at least for today. :) Congratulations.
@davidmoran
I rewrote part of the notation about sorting the column % return for the current day.
The performance relative to other similar funds is superior going back to 5 year returns.
Personally, I would not buy this because of the very high front load. If you are comfortable with the front load or can buy this without the front load; this …
@JohnChisum
Ya !!! I've been wondering if the algos are actually reset and/or changed when markets move in a given % change. When will, or are the machines back in the game at this time.
One can imagine a human trader having worked many years are "…

I amended my statement about PQTIX; as there was a distribution on Dec. 10, yesterday.
But, I will watch this fund, too; to find how it does with the overall market directions.
This is Fido composition view for PQTIX.
Hi @scott
As to your reference to HYG. This etf did have (have not checked for the past week) 18% of its composition involved in energy debt. The current nasty problem for those invested in high yield bonds is: harmful or undesirable contact or infl…
@Lawlar
I recall the "cheap" gas, with $.22/gal the cheapest I remember; and at this price, at the time, folks noted how "cheap" it was. 'Course, at the time; a part time job at the local grocery store for a high school student paid $.35/hour and un…

Hi @kevindow
Not that M & A is not taking place in other sectors, too; but because of large capital outlays R & D in the bio/health area, I feel the M & A will continue to be stronger in this sector versus other areas. With this (M&…

We've held FRIFX for several years; a conservative fund, equity/bond mix. A farily smooth and tame fund by normal real estate fund standards.
But, will remain with current healthcare holdings and keep an eye towards the energy rel…
We just drive into Canada for the "kilo" experience. But, the gasoline thing was always confusing; although we always filled the gas tank with "x" liters. 'Course, sometimes I set the speedo to the kilo speed mode; but that is show and tell for the …

And, although hard for me to believe, too; is that the Vietnam War, more or less officially started 50 years ago. I still recall speaking with my father and some of his friends about WWII. Some would talk about some things and others wo…

Thanks for the post.
Of interest, IMO; the 60/40 consideration, which is sensible for many. Another point is a 2 or 3 times per year rebalance, as needed; from the investor. Our portfolio is always at a potential point of rebalance, and not j…

You saying that I to have to remove "that rule" from my list of investing rules? :)
I just "may" do that; 'cause I "can".
Hoping you are not in the pending weather path in that area.

@dicksonL
You note that you monitor your holdings; and though some may consider your holdings aggressive (equity rich), the fund choices, IMO; are very decent choices.
Yes, there is likely overlap in some areas; but as our house currently prefers,…

The chart is for return compares, versus a risk profile as you noted.

Had similar problems (twice) early this year; but performed a "prior traceroute" for the problem links and found that the path included a passthrough in Utah. The NSA was just watching for a few minutes. :)

Okay, now I get the drift of the statement. Yes, we've done all of this at this house, with the Trad. IRA (before the birth of Roth); as well as the 401k's and Roth's.

Hi @hank
You noted: "Remember that the advantages of a Roth don't come for free. You pay a price by sacrificing funds that could otherwise be invested and compounding for what amounts to an early tax payment."
I don't follow this part in particula…
