Hi fundalarm,
I was not aware of the requirement for mutual funds as to what may or may not be a required investment type to qualify as cash for the purpose of a prospectus.
I will presume this is a S.E.C. regulation.
Thank you and take care,

Hi Mike,
One should suspect that the cash is not cash; but perhaps TIPS or some other form of U.S. Treasury holdings.
You may consider an email to them in regards to what cash/equivalents really means.
Also of note, at least in respect to managem…
Howdy MJG,
Among most private citizens, a verbal agreement and a handshake are sufficient to close a deal. To enforce the articles of that deal is warranted by its value, a legal document is signed that guarantees its terms. It is almost always hon…
Howdy Pat,
We have maintained a simple "write it down" for expenses for years, and are also able to view the changes in costs. We use about 20 major categories. We miss a candy bar expense here and there, but do have a good overview of our budget c…
Howdy Pat,
Appreciate the notes and links. Have not visited Carpe Diem for some time; and used to run my writing there once in awhile.
As has been noted previous at FA; the assumption that part of the Fed actions was to "force" investors into ris…

Your friend should become very wealthy within the next 5 years.....if the timing is right.
Regarding Mr. Buffett and Mr. Fink:
One may suppose, that if we individual investors could use derivatives and other fancy tools to "balance" our investments; we could really have "fun" with our portfolios, eh?
Late Morning Coffee,
Per the original story: Statement #1: "Since most investors buy bonds for income and plan to hold them to maturity, they don't have to worry as much about the market's volatility or increased correlation. They also can buy che…
Hi David,
Forgot to note from a few days ago, that "SmallCapNetwork.com" also had a pickup story related to your interview with WSJ.
Did you run the text you posted through a translation site?

YUP, to the broad message as related to investing, period.
For those who do not understand and care not to learn; the article is also a note of caution as to those who may choose some of the very narrow focused etf's…
msf,
Thank you for the taking the time to post this information; to help us attempt to sort everything.
Scott and AndyJ, thank you too, for the additional comments.

David,
Sorry to tag this with another post; but I forgot to place it with the original write.

Hey hank,
Speaking of boats and bonds.......well, Bond in particular. I know you recall in some of the James Bond movies that many times an escape "from the big explosion or whatever" at the end; was in place. This house hopes to avoid any severe …
Hi WallStreetRanter,
You noted,

The ultimate challenge for this house, too; attempting to sort what is taking place into an overview, a…
Howdy WallStreetRanter,
Welcome to MFO. Are you one and the same with your name here and the blog of the same naming?

I'll email Gov. Snyder of MI on Wednesday. His mantra is "shared sacrifice". I'm sure he would like a piece of the CA action upon which to test his economic theories.
Reply to @johnN:
MI now has a surplus and balanced budget. 'Course the downside is that monies were taken away from the schools, those who have little money now will find their taxes restructed and those in particular age groups will find their pen…

Hi scott,
The one major aspect which could still provide an equity boost may be a true and final settlement of how much of a hair cut the private holders of Greek debt are willing to settle upon. Hedge funds are involved with the private side, of …

Hi msf,
Yes. I revisited the "vit" naming to discover the annuity. Thank you for your efforts with this.
It remains a sad dispostion for this and other MM's; where we must presume a very large sum of monies are parked.

scott,
Nah, I wouldn't worry about it. I suspect that special tourist rate arrangements will come into place, especially for the German citizens. This should stimulate economies in these areas.

Hi hank,
Opps......Falcon's magic program picked up the capitalized word "index" for a link. That was part of the copy/paste for the MM fund. I have adjusted this in the original post. Apparently Nationwide is using the 3 month T-bill as a referenc…
Reply to @hank:
Just a quick reference I picked at random. This may not be representative or may be a bad choice; as it happens to be a MM inside of an insurance company mutual fund group. But, I am sure there is a pile of money parked in these ty…
Howdy msf,
I can't find the story right now. But recall from a few days ago that the MM's monies that had been parked in Europe (and was withdrawn throughout 2011) has found its way to Australia, Indonesia and other Asian countries. I don't know th…
Hi Max,
Per your post, it appears you are also attempting to compare the dividend, and/or are focused on the dividend.
Keep in mind that this is not neccessarily a compartive tool for these or other funds.

For the sake of another aspect regarding MM accounts within fund families; and which I did not find mentioned in the story, is that one may place an average expense ratio of .50%.
Obviously, the past few years will find MM monies going backwards i…

Old_Joe,
Sometimes our past catches up with us.
Or if one gets entangled in a "catch22".........the past may never catch up; being in my case, probably a very most fortunate circumstance. Some catch22's may be alright !!!
