Morningstar and Yahoo Finance offer links to "major holders" including funds. However, I'd guess a fund may have at most a low single-digit % in one of the stocks, which wouldn't be a fund-moving amount.
Reply to @Charles: This as well. WLT, BTU 1:34 PM Walter Energy (WLT -12.8%) dives after Forbes reports the company withdrew a proposed $1.55B debt refinancing offer due to "market conditions." Other coal stocks are also off: BTU -4.5%. ACI -7.1%. C…
Adding to EM names and looking for new/other names. The increasingly ADD nature of markets is becoming ridiculous. Watching CNBC and not one person saying add to EM - so many people "AVOID EM!!!!"
Not sure why; a check of a few of the fund-o-fund's other holdings doesn't reveal any large moves (although I didn't view all of them) and no dividend.
Reply to @Charles: If you have an interest in coal, Kinder Morgan is starting a small business owning and leasing coal and other nat resource properties. KMI and KMP/KMR are selling off today due to a spill in one of the pipelines. The leasing biz w…
Reply to @TSP_Transfer: Some brokerages do charge fees for foreign ordinary share purchases (tickers ending in F). One I know doesn't even tell you the fees - you are just charged a random fee later on. It is not surprising that there is not that mu…
I will be happy to add here-and-there to long-term EM positions (some fund, more focus on single names) if EM markets come down further. There are going to be bumps around the world (and the US will not be immune) and I continue to believe in EM gro…
I've added a bit recently (and as of a couple of days ago am lightly hedged), but will wait a bit to see if dust settles a bit more clearly before buying any more. Will largely be continuing to look to add to single names that I view as long-term ho…
Reply to @TSP_Transfer: Oh, I completely agree with you. You have these giant inflows/outflows over the last several years and those with a long-term view can use these periods as buying opportunities. I continue to have some EM funds, but a few lo…
I wasn't planning on it, but after the announcement of a new operation I may add more to Kinder.
"Kinder Morgan Energy to start new biz of acquiring, owning, leasing properties
Kinder Morgan Energy Partners announced that it is initiating a new bus…
My view is that I don't hate Sears, I hate what Sears has become under Lampert. You have a classic American brand that was admittedly becoming irrelevant, but Lampert has done it no favors. Berkowitz is an excellent investor, but I found his praise …
The KMR/KMP discount has narrowed over time, although it varies and the spread between the two could certainly widen again. It seemed to narrow more significantly a month or two ago, then has widened a bit in the last couple of weeks as income equit…
KMI = parent company of Kinder Morgan Partners and El Paso/Pipeline, as well as recently Copano Energy. If the subsidiaries do well, the parent does very well.
KMR = Corporation who is just wholly invested in KMP. Does not require K-1. Has continu…
Reply to @slick: As Brazilian stocks continue to fare pretty weakly, I've looked to gain a little exposure and ABV, with its solid dividend policy (which looks as if it may be increased a bit) and rather broad appeal becomes kind of appealing at the…
Reply to @Mark: I own triple net REIT WP Carey (WPC), but like and have looked at/considering O and Chambers Street Properties (CSG). May add to KMI as well.
Reply to @BobC: "Shortly thereafter, rates were easily above 12%. And the housing market did not collapse. I remember people sleeping in line outside mortgage lenders offices to get first-time homebuyer "deals". I am not sure which is the tail or th…
I was going to close the books for the year and just go with what I have, but did add to a couple of REITs when those went down heavily. I am also looking at Ambev (ABV) and a couple of other odds and ends.
Reply to @CathyG: I think shorting is really a tactical move/trade and it becomes that's something you have to watch and decide when to move in and out of. If you are concerned, I'd reduce risk to a point where you can sleep well at night.
Additio…
Reply to @Investor: I won't disagree that it's a correction. However, it's the kind of correction where everyone was clearly on one side of the boat (somewhat similar to Apple) and that may continue to play out. Japan's fundamental picture also rema…
I think my only thing about CHK is that the position comes after CHK has already gone through a lot of turmoil - it was significantly ramped down with all the issues regarding former CEO McClendon. It's come back quite a bit since (although admitted…
Reply to @scott: HAHAHA! So predictable and even sooner than I thought:
"7:08 AM The Fed trots out St. Louis' Jim Bullard who says it's been awhile since the FOMC discussed an exit from QE, and he doesn't think the group is about to start talking a…
Reply to @bee: I continue to like triple net REITs and that's one thing that I would add to in particular in the RE sector if the market has a significant pullback.
GLRBX (which investor mentioned) is a solid, sleep well at night fund that doesn't get that much attention. I don't own it, but I've owned it in the past and it's a fine fund.
Bernanke acted like easy money was going to continue for the foreseeable future. Market soared. Fed minutes came out and it became apparent that a number of Fed governors didn't see things the same way. Market had a tantrum. A couple of days from no…

Unfortunately, I haven't used any of the wireless models. I've actually only used a couple of their headphones over the last 10-12 years or so but for a good reason - they've actually lasted.
Both have offered very good audio quality (are there be…
I think it's remarkable that they are still capable of doing something else, even if it's not the correct course. They will probably do okay as an emerging market retailer, but it's not something that I think will be a major turnaround - it'll just …
Reply to @Maurice: The manager has an enjoyable book called the Ivy Portfolio (although it's been a while since I read it.) The manager's blog is also very informative. That said, the GTAA etf was a disappointment (it is the only ETF the company has…
