Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
Reply to @scott: Back trading again. Thread can be either just left as is (anyone's thoughts on investor confidence?) or closed.
Still some problems though:

Interesting to see mkt selling off, bonds selling off and gold going higher. Interest rate movements continuing to surprise me, although they ramped today apparently after a Bill Gross tweet: "Gross: Pogo said, We have met the enemy & he is us. …
Anyone have any particular stock or balanced recommendations for CEFs? I find FEO and INF interesting but haven't really found many others that really stand out.
Odd. I'm not upset by AQR as some are, but this particular fund really never interested me as I didn't like the idea of trying to balance several different strategies under one fund. I guess it attracted enough AUM, though.
Reply to @Charles: AQR has long indicated that advisors are their intended audience, ever since they changed the minimum early on after they started offering funds (although the minimum varies, it is listed at $1M)
Pretty much what David said.

Pimco L/S has done exceptionally well this year. As I've said previously though, given the concentrated nature of this fund, I think you may see somewhat inconsistent performance over time. Still, it's an interesting L/S fund and has outperformed th…
I'm not buying anything more at this point, but am not selling anything either. Reinvesting divs. I will add a bit more to current holdings, but the market would have to be a good deal lower than it is currently for me to consider doing so.

Reply to @bee: I've traded it a few times (no minimum, no max holding period) in the last couple of years - sometimes good, sometimes not. However, earlier in this year I started a small position in it again for a somewhat longer-term period. Still,…
Reply to @ron: Two entirely different funds. One is a long-short fund that can go long/short both equities and fixed income. The other is a long-only fund.
Meh. It doesn't seem like anything new for analysts, who change targets after moves have happened both ways. I can tell you a number of economists and managers whose opinions I find highly interesting and thought-provoking. Why is it that I don't ha…

Yeah, I agree. I've thought that for a while.
