The last week has been good preparation for playoff pressures....nicely done Tito.
Has anyone noticed that Bernie is nudging Secretary Clinton a bit to the left? I don't recall her speaking about the income divide as strongly as she did today.
Looks like the Bern is having a positive impact.
This pyramid scheme will only be exacerbated as the various financial forces now active continue to destroy the earnings power of the middle and lower classes, resulting in an ever-diminishing tax base to help pay for the future retirees.

I'm in Ohio, and believe Kasich has a lot to contribute to the national debate. Unfortunately, folks like Trump, Carson, Huckleberry and several others may keep him and other reasonable and realistic candidates off the preliminary debate stage.

Art....MAPTX has really been taking it on the chin the last few weeks, but certainly not to the extent of the major China indices. I am not adding to my position on this, but not selling either.
I haven't seen too much linked to China on these boa…
Well, what do I know; except that there was a lot of reversal today from the losing side to the positive.
This includes many of common equity sectors of both the U.S. and some Euro area funds (which are U.S. etf traded).
Ah, probably just the 70%…
The reference to the Marshall plan was a second-hand reference by an article commenter to a Thomas Piketty column on the matter, as he describes a German corollary to the current situation. The link to his column is noted below.

Ran across this picture online...related to the Thomas Picketty notes on the Greek situation:

And the vote wasn't close.
Ted, your comment reminds me of something Cramer said last week when the market was diving, and folks bought after the first 60 minutes on what they interpreted as a slight weakness. If you want to buy the dips, you shoul…
Guys....I recently saw some chatter regarding an ETF appropriately assigned the ticker HACK. There may be a similar accumulation of like-minded companies, but I've not seen one. I like the space theoretically, but don't know enough about individual …
Those guys are in Connecticut....that is not the north coast, that is the east coast. Or charitably, the northeast coast.
The north coast would be Cleveland.
I'm going to go with 2 B's.
I think that while Greece will be resolved, different countries will be looking down that same glide path, most notably Spain and Italy. While the problems are not as immediately severe, the possible ramifications would …
And selling accelerated into the close, which is not a positive indicator. It appears as though China action at the open will drive sentiment. Greece may be largely baked in at this point.
Any market moves will be emotional and short lived.
Of course this is just a guess, but with the continued upward trend we've seen, and the notable lack of any type of retrenchment approaching the fairly normal 10-20% variety, the market may just b…
My 401K transfer from Fidelity to Schwab was completed earlier this week. In this thread I detailed the funds which would be the recipients of these monies. The embedded lag time allowed for an added degree of reflection. While I do believe these fu…
I'm not optimistic about the angst going away soon....there remains lingering opposition to Social Security and Medicare, so I think this will be smoldering for awhile. Perhaps a new unofficial rule can be adopted...no whining unless you also offer …
PRESSmUP, took a look at VTR on Schwab. Schwab gives it a 'D' rating, Ned Davis Research list it as 'Sell', Reuters Research lists at 'Hold', and Market Edge Second Opinion says 'Avoid'. It is down about 22% from it's January high and continuing to…
The "risk of ruin" is diminished due to spreading the allocation among managers and geography. And the fees are no more than aggregating into one fund of average cost.
But then isn't the opposite also true? You are hoping the average of all those f…
Perhaps because I also have more funds than many on this board would deem prudent, I agree with Skeet.
I have the allocation categories covered, but also with multiple funds. As an example, my foreign allocation within both pre-tax and after-tax ac…
Ted....as the link below indicated, and I'm paraphrasing, if you don't hate at least one section of your portfolio, you are most likely not adequately diversified.

Lots of activity as my recent retirement saw a transfer of 401(K) dollars from Fidelity to an existing Schwab IRA rollover account. I am losing access to several funds I like, and have been thinking about this for more than a few months. None of the…
No problem Ted....just email me the bill along with your bank account number and password so I can deposit the funds. Also, 10K invested would be $35,279.17 per M* so I can pick up dessert as well.
I would personally wait until after the SCOTUS rules on the ACA subsidies before putting new money to work in a broad-based HC fund. BIO's may be sheltered, but other HC may take a hit if the court issues a surprise.
The time to execute on infrastructure is when borrowing costs are low. That, plus the employment boost is precisely what is/was needed.
We are going to miss that window of opportunity due to political bickering.
Shadow....the currently closed fund in this family is VVPSX, the small cap value fund. I got a toe-hold in this when learning it was closing, as SC value selections are few and far between.
The LC fund's performance does look attractive though. Clo…
Retiring on June 1 at age 59....getting COBRA for about $1K a month and will figure out what the ACA has in store for me at the end of the year since I am not insurable otherwise.
The week after I retire, I'm headed to Italy for 3 weeks.
There a…
Thanks for posting this Ted. I had been considering similar items for my sleeve of holdings which account for 4 years of spending dollars heading into retirement. I had previously considered short terms bond funds, or market neutral funds like MERFX…
It is odd the things that I remember from the show...such as when Lou introduced the central guest, I remember that the producer (?) essentially guided the person onto the set....very quaint.
And Liz Ann Sonders....as I see she will be a guest as …
One week ago, VGHCX hit a threshold calling for the usual and customary 33% haircut. The timing on this was just blind luck. I guess that is one benefit for having a pre-set trigger point.
I am quite content to sit for a bit, but I think the divi p…
Hi Scott...I have no magic insights to the industry here, but you are correct....it is an unbelievably exciting (and profitable) time to be involved in drug discovery. One of the things my CEO keeps emphasizing is that our customers are changing liv…
To be clear, my question wasn't one of challenge...as I too have a significant allocation to HC, and the pharma/bio-tech arena is my vocation so I'm active in this space from that additional perspective.
I was curious due to media mention of a cor…
