  • I guess he believes in liberalism and democracy as long as it agrees with him.

  • There are just some things that are simply best not determined by popular vote.
  • Well, especially when the information dissemination is so poorly (half-assedly) done and the idiot media prevail:

  • Uncle Winston understood: "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter."
  • ...And now, Cameron is gone. Poof! Just like THAT. There will have to be a new government formed. I'm just wondering how much influence the xenophobic UKIP will have? Boris Johnson as PM? "Weepin' Jesus on the cross!"

"Many forms of Government have been tried and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."

From reading the above posts I get the feeling that a few of the posters are against Brexit. Historically speaking, the European Union is going against the historical trends of post World War II history. The world has been moving towards historical and culturally based self governance. This has happened in the USA e.g. civil rights, women's rights hyphenated American, sexual rights.

The irony in the discussion is that European Union goes against classical liberalism, yet many self identified liberals favor it. And when the individual speaks the 'neo liberal' demeans their decision. Another irony is that the 'neo liberal' as indicated by the Brexit catalyst is in favor of authoritarian rule. The liberal movement and democracy is about empowering the individual. The EU neutered the individual.
