Where is this years global growth occurring?

A lot can happen in 15 years, but how long ago does the year 2000 feel to you? Projected Global growth by GDP (2030):

"Get ready for a new economic order. In the world 15 years from now, the U.S. will be far less dominant, several emerging markets will catapult into prominence, and some of the largest European economies will be slipping behind."

My Take:
Matthews Funds do a nice job in the Asia markets (MAPIX, MACSX, MSMLX, MCDFX, MAKOX, MAPTX, MINDX and others)
T Rowe Price Funds do a nice job in other EM markets (TREMX, TRAMX, PRLAX, PRMSX, PREMX)

Take a look at another JO Hambro fund, JOHAX, for the LC space. If you have $25K the cheaper JOHIX.

    Thanks for chiming in.

  • JO Hambro looks solid. I do have Robert Cresci's Int'l Small Cap, though. What are people's thoughts on concentration with managers? I know the Int'l Select Fund is run completely separate and JOHambro essentially serves as the parent organization for a number of boutique managers. Also, performance of the fund looks scary good... Any concerns that they may be at the peak of their alpha cycle and may not be the best time to get in now?

    From Propectus:

The Fund invests, under normal market conditions, primarily in equity
securities of companies headquartered outside the United States,
including those in emerging market countries. Shareholders will be given
60 days’ advance notice of any change to this policy. The Fund may
invest in foreign companies of any size, including small and mid-
capitalization companies, in order to achieve its objective. Equity secu-
rities include common and preferred stocks, rights and warrants.
The Adviser seeks to identify and make investments in U.S. and foreign
companies based on a multi-dimensional investment process, considering a
number of factors, including growth, valuation, size, momentum and beta.
Beta measures the volatility of a stock relative to the overall market. The
Fund utilizes a core style with a modest growth tilt (growth at a reasonable
price, or “GARP”) over all capitalization ranges. The Fund seeks those
stocks, sectors and countries with positive earnings surprises, sustainably
high or increasing return on equity, and attractive valuations.

Also, Northern Trust seems to be the conduit for investing in Jo Hambro. It seems to have equal weighting between Europe and Asia and a higher concentration in Tech and HC.

    My take:

Until Primecap comes up with a ex-US fund this might be a good fund to choose.

  • On a side note, some international and emerging markets funds with significant exposure to Asia had some decent gains today compared to the losses most domestic equity funds had.
