"Brandolini's Law, or the "Bullshit Asymmetry Principle," states that the energy required to refute misinformation is significantly greater than the energy needed to create and spread it. Coined by Italo Brandolini in 2013, it explains why, in digital or political debates, false claims often prevail because debunking them requires extensive time, data, and patience.

Key Aspects of Brandolini's Law:

Meaning: Lies or misinformation can be produced instantly, but refuting them requires evidence, context, and nuance.
Synonyms: The Bullshit Asymmetry Principle, The Truth-to-Bullshit Ratio.

Usage Examples:

Social Media: A user posts a false, emotionally charged claim about a health issue or a political candidate that goes viral, making it nearly impossible for experts to address every comment.

    No argument from me regarding any of that. Almost everything we've studied and learned about vaccines is now suspect in the blink of an eye largely due to ignorance and arrogance. On the bright side it is thinning out the idiots.

    Spot on. Why certain posters need to be ignored, not necessarily refuted. Twain said the same with his quote about arguing with idiots. The way that I have put it previously, is that I don't want to put in the time to educate people, who choose not to educate themselves.

    Context and a total view is prerequisite to proper understanding.
