Dearborn raid and the NBA - Is the FBI playing straight or pursuing political agenda?

Backdrop - Mayoral Election in NYC Tuesday pits Trump backed Cuomo against Muslim candidate Mamdani who is loathed by Trump. Details from BBC. Friday FBI raids homes of “persons of Mideast origin” in Dearborn MI, a suburb of Detroit known to be of about 50% Muslim families. Story at AP News

Backdrop - 1-2 months ago NBA star Seth Curry refuses to attend White House ceremony. Fellow NBA player LeBron James calls Trump “a bum” As reported by BBC. About a month later the FBI announces an investigation into NBA in-house gambling associated with mafia figures. Story at Newsweek

Outspoken Fox sports announcer Stephen A Smith sees the FBI investigation as largely one of retribution against the NBA. Story at Fox News

Let’s look at that FBI investigation. Only 1 active NBA player (now under suspension) is accused of intentionally adversely affecting a game’s outcome. This by allegedly “faking” an injury during a game. HTH do you prove that? And if a player is faking injuries, is it not foremost an issue for his coaches and the league? The other accused NBA figure is a former player and current coach. But the accusations have nothing to do with NBA games. Instead, it is alleged he used his good name to lure unsuspecting “marks” to rigged poker games. Shameful if true. But not directly related to the NBA.

Albeit - There are perhaps more egregious examples of abuse. I chose to focus on the two mentioned above because they haven’t received as much scrutiny as the other cases.

    There's no secret that this FBI and DOJ are now weaponized against anyone trump feels insulted or threatened by. The prosecutions chosen, and the timing tells us everything. Then you have the pardons of folks that supported trump, regardless of types of crimes committed. Often because of the nature of the crime (jan 6!). trump pardon some military members in his first term who committed war crimes - mass murder. They had been found guilty by a military court. Murderers!

    Then there is the backdrop. The constant demands from trump for "prosecutions". The firing of anyone who doesn't blindly follow orders, by selling their soul. The ridiculously weak charges against people like Comey and James. The DAs unwilling to sign the documents (very unusual).

    Here is a really good one. A 61 year old retired policeman who re-posted an internet meme about trump, and was tossed in jail on 2 million bail. He sat for 30 days in prison before all charges were dropped.

    If the guy was a threat, why drop charges. If he was not a threat, why did it take so long to release him?

    Because Der Orange Fuhrer doesn't like him. I am nauseous reading and hearing about every bit of what goes on in this lawless, immoral, putrid Orange filthy regime. And about half of voters voted for this. Happy, now? A pox on them all.

    Not to worry, their failure to vaccinate themselves and their children will take a severe toll on them. As will their loss of government benefits, the spoils of which will go to the richest among us. The farmers who voted for him have relegated themselves to being charity recipients. Ironic for people who pride themselves on a work ethic. Their harvest rots while they collect bailout money. No wonder their children seem to want no part of the family farm.

    As for the fellow arrested, there is likely a line a mile long of civil rights attorneys vying for the chance to be the one who is involved with the massive lawsuit, which is certain to be generated from that complete screw up. When the jury awards him $50 million, a lot of folks are going to lose their jobs.
