European Leaders to Back Zelensky in Washington, Hoping to Counter Putin

WSJ Article (Link may or may not work.)

Here’s the lead-in …

”European leaders will travel to Washington with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to meet with President Trump on Monday, aiming for unity in pushing back against Russian efforts to dictate peace terms in their war.The leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Britain, Finland, the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization said they would join Zelensky at the White House. Zelensky on Sunday traveled to Brussels to meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, a top EU leader, and hold a video call with the other leaders to prepare for the meeting with Trump at the White House.”

  • Except from article:
Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said security guarantees could be modeled on Article V of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization treaty, which says that an enemy attack against one member would be viewed as an attack against all. But the assurances wouldn’t be given formally by the alliance but by individual members, he said.

“It means that the United States is potentially prepared to be able to give Article V security guarantees but not from NATO, directly from the United States, and other European countries,” Witkoff told Fox News. “That is big.”
Is Witkoff nuts? He missed the main thesis on the formation of NATO.

Dancing around the fact that Ukraine is not yet in NATO?

Be VERY suspicious of this... Putin cannot be trusted any more than the Orange Farce.

How much would a Trump guarantee be worth?

Wonder if you can buy those on ebay?

Sounds like these European leaders are trying to intervene and prevent Trump from rather rudely dismissing Zelensky the way he did last time the Ukraine leader visited.
  • How can you expect 47 to do anything for Ukraine when he doesn't give a hill of beans for most US citizens, not even those who voted for him? No ethics, no conscious, no character, no clue is he.
  • Dumps only interest in the Ukraine was when he was trying to take advantage of Zelensky for Ukraine's mineral rights. Dump has no compassion and no ability to relate.

But sure, give that man a Nobel Peace prize. He keeps insisting he deserves one - it's a really sad display by a tiny man-boy.

    Indeed! Hear, hear!
  • Here is an interview from Fiona Hill, the former senior director for European and Russian affairs on the National Security Council. Her view on Putin is spot on.

Pathetic display. Has any U.S. President ever before stood on a global stage with other world leaders and hurled insults at a former U.S. President?

    Not that I'm aware of.
I'm not cognizant of any U.S. presidents who were more ill-suited for the position than Donald J. Trump.
  • Unfit for office

Very tough for his 35% "loyalists"...or rabble... to see it, though.

He is doing everything he can as a diversion away from the Epstein files. DOJ is working hard to redact his name from many pages. Also heard that Bill Barr is being asked about his early investigation when Epstein was found dead.
  • What a great laugh his claim that he brought peace to "the Republic of the Condo" was. Cratering cognitive skills!

    LOL.

Did he go on to detail how he lowered HOAs across the African land? What a master negotiator!!! Give him a 3rd term. But first, maybe give him an Alzheimers test.

Unfortunately, the new season of SNL doesn’t begin for another 6 weeks!
